Root What's next for the ROM's?

So we've got overclocked beasts, a smooth OS, more homescreens, wifi tether, theme's, and almost everything else under the sun with any of the popular ROM's. So what's next? Flash from the leaked ROM is the first thing I can think of, but really, what else is there to do besides performance boosts?

I ask this because my brother declined the new DroidMod ROM update because I really couldn't tell him a killer feature to upgrade. Of course, I upgraded immediatly, because I like the flavor of DroidMod's cool-aid.

i would assume that flash would be next. i think until then we will have to wait to see what google comes out with and we can incorporate

i'm perfectly happy with where i am. Smoked Glass v4.5 is giving me everything i want at the moment. i can't think of anything more to add really.

all i really expect is for flash to get put onto roms whenever it get's leaked.

FM radio!

A few devs are working on it over at alldroid

Granted, it's not exactly groundbreaking technology, but it would be cool.

Making JIT stable for the ROM's to make them EVEN faster! Since it's unstable of course! thats what I want... And the 2.1 launcher fixed! Those seem like to reasonable things to ask for. :)

I think flash and sense ui would be what we start seeing next. Although stable jit would be awesome.

It's crazy how JIT/Davlik Turbo can improve some app performance by up to threefold.

Makes me think of how Android has been limping along all this time on an unoptimized of davlik...

This is definitely the feature I am looking forward to the most, followed probably by Flash.

how bout using the phone as a garage opener or to remote start a car. the iphone does it....

You're talking apps. They'll run regardless of what ROM you're running.

ROM features are more OS oriented. I'll have to +1 for BT voice dialing.

Better voice commands overall would be nice. I think that's the one thing from the SensUI I would really dig. HTC really made some nice voice controls in there. Such as "Play artist Britnet Spears"

C'mon you know you would say it. ;)

+1 for BT voice dialing....I have to believe that's a software thing, and I would love to have it. It's never been clear to me why Droid didn't have this by default, but I keep hoping someone'll whip something up....

You guys think JIT will be stable soon? or not for a while?

Hard to tell. Could be a month, could be almost a year. Definitely sometime in 2010 though. Considering it's already in the android repository under and alpha branch (afaik).

Some people have run it with little to no problems, others have experienced significant numbers of FCs (also afaik).
