What's taking Verizon so long???

well there always is two sides to every coin. Why is evryone pointing fingers at verizon, couldnt google be the reason 2?

Not Google -- launch dates are confirmed in Europe, so they must be reasonably confident that 4.0 is sufficiently polished. Samsung, maybe, if there's any truth to supply problems or LTE issues. I think Verizon is playing this smart, however: they must have tight relationships with all three manufacturers involved, as well as certain obligations to move a certain number of units. I'm betting they know SGN is going to be wildly popular — not just with those of us who have been waiting for it — so they're going to give Moto and HTC a lap or two around the track as a head start.

I have my fingers crossed that the marketing map is just that, and they're going to give the SGN a soft launch before Black Friday. Mail order only for the first week or 10 days would suit me just fine. But seriously... they know they've got us all on the hook, that we're going to wait. And wait. And wait.

I'm thinking that this could be a Verizon experiment...and they want the GN to fail. Put the open, vanilla, non-bloated GN against some pretty strong contenders (RAZR and Vigor...and iP4S) and see if people will choose the GN over them. It will also let them see if their network will spontaneously explode when they let a non-locked-down phone on it (which it won't) or if they'll make/lose money over the fact that it doesn't have their bloat all over it.

most people i know who do not root or anything to that nature, hate verizons apps
i tell them how to remove to remove them, and inform them that rooting does void your warranty, and they quickly are against it, before i can even tell them they can easily unroot and remove all traces of root.

i dont think anyone ever uses the verizon apps, or purchases them...

just a thought anyway. but in the end, big red has to make their money, and they will do what they can to bring in more profits, so if they see the gnex is not selling, be prepared to see it put on a EOL quick and no longer offered by verizon.

their Droid name is their selling point, and most of the Droid names are motorola's so rest assured moto will always have a top spot in verizon's image over any other company... except apple of course

It makes absolutely no sense that Verizon wants this phone to fail. They gave up the Galaxy S II which is a proven best seller outside of United States so that they can get the Galaxy Nexus. And they want this phone to fail?!?!?!

I never root any phone and I am very happy with my Fascinate. I have no need for custom ROM. I don't mind to use TouchWiz and I don't mind to use Verizon app. I actually paid for the VZ Navigator.

I am considering the Galaxy Nexus simply because it is a Samsung and it is a Galaxy brand. I have no plan to do any mod on this phone. :)

So we have....

Razr- Nov 11th: confirmed
Rezound - Nov 14th: confirmed
GNex-?

I think with vzw releasing these 2 heavy media friendly devices only 3 days apart says alot. It pretty much says vzw is not concerned with returns at all. We can probably expect to see the GNex pretty soon. The GNex will not be a real big media friendly device as far as vzw is concerned, so I think its a very real possibility that we can see the GNex drop anywhere from Nov 10th-17th...

I hope you're right... Hopefully we get some confirmation on that from vzw soon.

GNex us supposed to be the 17th.

Vzw has committed to nothing, and has been mum on the whole subject. An Internal document doesn't really hold to much weight these days as an official date like the 17th was never officially announced.

Lol...if I watch one more video with a person who has a London/English accent that says Ice Cream Sandwich a million times I'm going to flip...Lmaooo.

rumors say the 17th, some more compelling actual VZW internal documents show the 24th or after - Black Friday - to capitalize on holiday buying.

Verizon said they are going to be releasing a new phone like every week for the rest of the year so I doubt that is the reason. Plain and simple verizon can't bloat the nexus and won't make as much $$$$ off of it thats why.

again. they know real android fans will buy it.. so selling the phone is not an issue to them. yes other carriers have gingerbread phones.. but verizons response is LTE, Best coverage, etc, etc. plus i am gambling they believe the RAZR name will bring them tons of sales. And well we already know 4 out of 5 that walk into verizon on black friday are going to ask about the iphone first

Except at&t are getting 2 lte phones nov 6( one of which is better than anything verizon has and the razr( skyrocket) so no longer are they the only with lte yes they have more markets but the longer verizon waits I could see some switching to at&t since they aren't overcharging as much for lte phones.

Save the best for last. ;)

Either way, Verizon has an impressive Fall/ Winter smartphone line-up. This is a full assault against Apple/ iPhone. Android is on the come up. With devices like the RAZR, Rezound (Vigor), and Galaxy Nexus, Apple has no choice but to catch up. The iPhone 4S was a major disappointment to many loyal Apple fans, and since the iPhone 5 isn't gracing Apple fans with its presence yet, Apple is going to have to lean heavily on brand loyalty. The allure of this phone is heavy. Its the next step in Android's evolution. Just see how many iSheep stick with Apple after these 3 powerhouses take off.

I think we are going to hear something soon. AT&T thew out something completely unexpected with the announcement of their first LTE phones and expansion of the network. I thought about trying out the AT&T Skyrocket to see how AT&Ts lte compares to Verizons but then I remembered how crappy they are in my area. I think Verizon might throw something out there in the next couple of days. We might see the Nexus sooner then expected.

Let's hope that is the case. Who knows with verizon though.

Does anyone find it fishy that we were all discussing the 'Vigor' and the 'Nexus' and then all of a sudden there's a Razr announcement,it gets the media blitz and is coming out before the others?? How did it get in front of the line? Moto apparently is in bed with Vzw or has compromising pics of her:p

I was thinking the same thing.

Lol...They missed releasing LTE in the biggest market NYC....by doing that they would have done some damage out here with the Skyrocket! However I watched the unboxing on Phone Dog...at&t's network is laughable right now, its plain slow and pokey...watch Arron try and load and phone dog...its painful.

It'll be a while till at&t does catch up, but when they do, I like alot of others will give them a look!

However, the Skyrocket SG2 is on its last leg....its old news IMO! The GNex will crush that phone on software, and network speed alone...that's for sure!

It would have been a BIG power move by at&t if they could have brought the GNex to sales channels before Vzw, but we all know that would have never happened.
