I've got an optimus v and i wanna upgrade it, right now i have BACKside IHO on it and i kinda want something else on it and make my battery last longer.
could anyone help?

Well, there are a ton of opinions out there. I love the BACKside ROM, myself. Is the battery life your only complaint? If so, you could try to re-calibrate the battery (good rule of thumb to do so after flashing any new ROM.) If you'd like to try that, just let me know, I can help you with it if you're not familiar with the process. Or read this thread. Above and beyond that, if you have other issues with BACKside, just post them in the thread here.

If you just want to try something new, I know a lot of people really enjoy Harmonia, as well as Bobzhome's. There are, of course, many others. Most can be found in the ROMs section of this thread. I can only remark on the ones I have experience with. I hope this helps.

You beat me to it brotherswing. But it looks like I've added a few useful tidbits.

Hey brotherswing, I'm interested in the battery calibration you mentioned...is there a thread with instructions in the forum...or can you walk me thru it? Thx! :)

That was a great thread, thx!

So my takeaway from it was that I should not allow my battery to drain completely til phone shuts off and then recharge; unfortunately, it happened w/o my consent on stock rom...

And then, I should go into recovery and wipe battery stats. Can I do this at any time, or only when flashing a rom?

Thx! Ps...typing this out on phone today, andy, so I can identify with and appreciate all your labor when you help all of us! It's crazy typing on this mouse keyboard! LOL

From the thread I linked you to. From JerryScripts post.

Calibrating will help smooth things out faster, but the way it works, it should smooth out on it's own after a few charge/discharge cycles.

I've posted this before, but no one ever seems to read it. Your battery will not show the true potential of ANY rom for the first few days after flashing. Give it at least three days before you make any conclusions. __________________ <> BACKside-IHO CM7 <> Download Page <> IHO Repository <> UOT Kitchen <> Green_Machine_Screenshots <> Best Thread Ever <>

Right, I remember that post...makes sense...like when you get a haircut and it takes a few days to "settle in," LOL! :)

So, after waiting a few cycles...and I assume that's not "run it til its dead and recharge it" cycles... could I then try to wipe the battery stats in recovery? just to see if i get a battery improvement? is it a "can't hurt, might help" operation?

TIA!

My grandpa always said the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is two weeks. If you hadn't wiped the battery stats when you flashed the ROM, I wouldn't worry about it now. Just something to keep in mind for next time, although it's still optional.
