What's the point of bashing other Android phones?

I totally agree with this post. The droid x commercial makes me smile because I know that is just one more phone the iPhone has to compete with and these days, I am really really sick of the iPhone. I just realized I have a very huge iPhone fanboy friend. I also see it as a chance to gain more interest in android so maybe we can get some more apps converted from the apple store and some bigger name companies will create apps for us. I know that my phone is able to get froyo and gingerbread even though it may take longer and I'm good with that because there is nothing hardware wise I wish this phone could do. It's the best phone I have ever had.

Ok I lied about hardware cause a better battery would be sweet!!

I was just a Sprint store with my girlfriend last night. She was looking into a new curve and her company gets a great discount but I spent more time talking to the sales guy. He quickly tried to sell me on an EVO and I said Im fine with my incredible even though I like the EVO.. He kept trying to give me reasons why the evo was better. I just said, "dude, they are both android and they are both awesome phones" He finally agreed but really aside from the obvious they are very similiar and I get to save 10 a month for not having 4g in a city that wont see it for at least a year.

Have you guys ever been to droidlife? It's ten times worse I mean when the site owner introduced the incredible they just start bashing him, calling him a traitor..what the hell? is it a cult now?.its a damn phone. I have both the Droid and the incredible as far as I see the Droid and the incredible dont offer that big a difference software wise. Some people just have a serious obsession with these phones..no ones self esteem should be tied in with what phone you have.. It's sad really.

Do you have $15?

Do you have $15?

I actually got the EVO battery already. It is a good battery, it usually lasts me all day. I probably shouldn't complain about the battery, but a really awesome one that didn't make the phone look hideous would be cool.

Speaking of the battery... I had a thought! I think it would be smart of HTC to upgrade the battery to at least the 1500 for the phones with the LCD. That way it doesn't seem like the inferior product when it comes out (at least to anyone who knows the difference!)

Then the Verizon reps can say "well this one has the LCD screen but a better battery while this one has a slightly better screen". KWIM?

hmmm i may have to frequent the incredible forums more often

The issues here in androidforums aren't so much people attacking other phones in their phone section i.e evo users bashing x in their forums because you have to understand there will always be a bias in said phone thread.

The issue is when Incredible owner A complains about their incredible and incredible owners B, c, d, e, and F feel the need to attack Owner A because of a "personal Attack" for saying a phone sucks.

I don't post on AF anymore because it is ashame a wondrful community i joined a few months back is more of a way for small people to feel big and to bully others

The only android phone I would bash is the moto backflip lol.

Why? How is the backflip hurting you? If you don't want a BF, don't buy one. It isn't an advanced android device, but it serves it's purpose for those who like it.

I agree OP. All Android phones are awesome, and infighting is silly. I love the speed of my Inc, but it's surprising how perfectly usable even old Android phones like the Hero and G1 are. Is it slower? Yep, but it would still satisfy me far more than my Omnia ever did. Push GMail, Handcent, SMS Backup, Point-to-point Google Maps Navigation, and some other basics that I consider the core applications I love about the Android platform.

Whenever we get a new employee at work, I try to nonchalantly check out what kind of phone they have. Whether I see a G1 or an Evo it sparks the same type of conversation. Some are more advanced and have tons of apps and a custom launcher already, while others don't even know about AppBrain. It's fun to show people new things their year old phone can do that they didn't even know about.

The only thing I'm wishing for on an Android device is a true line-out. I fall into the Android-loving audiophile niche.

While I am not a DInc owner, I work with several people who own one, and I have fallen in love with the Android OS for phones since buying my Moto Droid 2 weeks after it came out. I have helped several of my friends and co-workers learn more about their phones, and if they wish, have rooted and overclocked/customized their phones for them so that they can enjoy a better device. I do not bash other good phones, of which Android has several offerings.

My friends and co-workers can see how much I love the OS and the experience of my phone, and ask my opinion of what phone they should get. I try to help them find a phone that suits their needs, and sometimes it is not a Droid or other Android device, but I cannot fault them for choosing the iPhone 4 or whatever they decide to get, but I also cannot assist them with making their phone work better. I personally find being able to remove crap programs that I don't use, as well as backing up my phone completely to be beneficial to me, among many other things I like about it. It is MY phone, and I can do all sorts of neat things with it.

I feel that the iPhone is a good phone for some people who enjoy the device with its lack of customization and other limitations, but I also point out that smartphones would not be where they are today without Apple breaking ground and setting the standard so much higher than it was. Android phones, especially the top end ones such as the DInc, the EVO, and the Droid, have offered excellent competition to the best offerings of Apple and RIM, and have gotten several manufacturers to consider pushing the envelope with newer and sometimes innovative phones with a more open OS to work with. Some devices have been handled poorly with the Android OS, such as the Samsung Behold II and the Motorola Backflip, while others have done well. Competition drives the technology forward, and we all benefit in the long run.

Haha

"this just in from facebook wall post: the search is on for cute boots"

I agree with what you said though, for the most part. And I didn't buy one.
