I have noticed that some roms have wi-fi hotspot app and wireless tether app on it (Synergy Godmode). Why and whats the difference?? I used the stock hotspot that comes on the widget features.

Most stable roms have the Spring hotspot app hacked and able to be used without paying the $30 a month charge.

Why have both?

Some people are paranoid that sprint might find out since your using their app, or just plain prefer the other app so some devs put both.

Both are not needed, however.

I wondered that too, seems like it would be the same thing, Maybe one lets you hook up multiple devices whereas the other only one???

Inquiring minds want to know!

i always thought that the wireless tether app allows you to gain internet access through your phone using your computer's internet connection via usb or wireless....and the mobile hotspot allows other devices such as other phones, computers, etc....to use the 3g or 4g internet off your phone...i could be wrong though...

I have used wireless tether and it gave my pc internet access through my phone's 3g or 4g.

if thats the case then i would assume they are the same thing then....i think one though wouldnt allow android to connect to ad network or whatever its called but it was fixed to allow it now....maybe one is just the actual sprint app and one you can get off the android market?? ...

I know, that adds to the confusion. Some will allow 4g, others will knock ur behind OFF 4g if you try to use.

i was using the market wireless tether and got 4g with a sense rom, but it wouldn't even work when I tried the same app with cm7, but then, it had a built in wireless tether, just wouldn't support 4g.

i wanted to try the usb tether app and see if it supported 4g or how well it worked at all. I used the free Easy Tether app before I even rooted, to see if it would work, and it did, don't know if it supported 4g either though.

Are my eyes crossed yet?
