Ahoy! fellow person who lives in the land of 10,000 frozen lakes. I hope your enjoying this lovely weather we've had for the last two months. They say, that hell has frozen over, and that its actually warmer there than it is in Minnesota.

Hi-ya!

I give up. This last snowstorm last night is the straw that broke the camel's back. I was diggin this winter until now.
I'm done. Done, I tell you!

.. Wind advisory remains in effect until 7 pm est this evening...
Hazardous weather...
* southwest winds will gust 45 to 50 mph for the balance of the daylight hours.
Impacts...
* the strong wind gusts will be capable producing minor damage to trees and outdoor objects.
* sporadic power outages are possible.
* driving will be made difficult... Especially for high profile vehicles.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Enough already!!!!!

Circa 10C and sunny perios here during the day. The sheep are out in the fields, the birds are returning, and the first crocuses are blooming purple and yellow.
Still... 48 days untill the first asparagus will be harvested.

This winter we only had 10 frost days, where the average is 40. The warmest winter ever. This worries me.

It's a smaller worry ;) The soil, insects and the bacteria need a good frost period. A 'reset' as you will?

What did you see this 55 degrees below 0 and more snow on Monday. Dammmm mother nature forgot to pay her snow bill or what .

Here it is March 1st and the weather is "like deja vu all over again". - Yogi Berra

This morning it was 2.4 Degrees F at 6:22 AM. The forecast is for winter storm 'Titan' to arrive tomorrow night. 6 inches of {censored} in Central Park will move this winter form 7th place to 2nd place n the all time {censored}iest winter list. I have heard forecasts from a couples of inches to 14 inches expected.

The question of the day - will the ice be out of the lakes by fishing season?

BAH!! :banghead:

Okay, it's dang hard, but in an attempt to let you folks see the beauty in snow... :o
In this microscopic timelapse of Vyacheslav Ivanov it looks like a snowflake is created. In reality, you can see a reverse video of evaporating flakes. The scientific term for this phenomenon is sublimation. It means that a substance goes from the solid to the gaseous phase, while the liquid phase leaves.

For the freeze-drying of, for example, instant coffee or soup powder, this principle is also used. Water molecules form ice crystals by low temperature. And because the surroundings is very dry, the crystals sublimate. With this method of freezing the volume decreases, the taste remains good and the coffee, soup or rice is long lasting. The bacteria can not survive in an arid environment.
