What's the weather like where you are?

Errr, yes? We keep them indoors in winter. Is that weird?
Beef cattle for us come in larger herds and indoor protection is not common.

Dairy cows are housed indoors if the herd is small enough. Typically, a less expensive indoor pen or so isn't uncommon for those cases.

Stables are an individual accommodation, as you see used for horses. Necessary with them, not with cattle. Unless you just have one or two.

My mistake. Our cows are commonly kept in this set up, which we call stables:

All winter long I've mostly felt like I'm waiting for winter to start. Most of our ground is abnormally brown although we've had some really cold days. It's definitely not like a normal Minnesota winter!

This is pretty much our winter in Minnesota this year, super abnormal for us to have so little snow. We're supposed to get a couple inches overnight but this is what it looked like today as I was leaving work:

I've been up to Minneapolis and Eden Prairie area this time of year and I concur, it didn't look like that when I was there.

Eden Prairie is really close to me, it's just bizarre how brown it's been this winter. Also funny when people here start complaining that they want winter to be over, I keep thinking "what?? aside from a couple really cold days, it hasn't even really been winter here yet!"

It was 27 degrees here today & a coworker & I took a walk this afternoon on the Luce Line trail that runs right by where we work in Golden Valley. A lot of the trail was covered with - at most - 1 inch of snow, but that's only because that section of the trail doesn't see a lot of sun & they haven't cleared new snow since the beginning of winter since we've hardly had any.

They're predicting 2-4 inches between tonight & rush hour tomorrow morning - but 40s on the weekend & 51 is predicted for next week, so anything we get won't last.

Well, I just checked. It's still snowing. Looks like we're getting the upper end of the prediction.

We are missing all the snow/rain/sleet ice this time around. The kid is in WV and they have some flooding going on (minor, streets/underpasses) along with at least 7" of snow on the ground. KY is in a mess too. Crazy winter this year for sure!
