Help Whats up with the software?

I got my evo when tehy first came out and had no problems for ever. Now, assuming with GB?, i have all sorts of problems.

And they repeated on 3 different phones. So im assuming its a hardware issue.

The new one isnt doing what the old one did just yet.

Turning off and on by itself
Screen unresponsive at times
Was going into car docking mode on its own

Hasnt done the car docking yet on this one. Bu thte screen is unrepsonsive probably %40 of the time and it turns off and on by itself.

The last one did it more and more. It started off every now and then, then its turning itself off all the time.


does rooting the phone fix these issues? And how much damn reasearch am i gonna have to do with it? Im tech savy but didnt really want to get into this but apparently i have no choice now cause this is my 3rd evo doing the same thing. I got my insurance plan with best buy and they repleace the phone, but its doing the same damn thing.

Starting to get annoying. Also can you revert back to older versions of android?

Some issues can be fixed by rooting and changing ROMs and KERNELs however if its hardware related then they won't be. I believe most of your issues can be cleared up by doing a cache / dalvic wipe which can be done with a custom recovery. You will have to tell us your hboot you can go into settings>Applications and turn off fastboot. Then shutdown the phone hold the volume down key and the power button until the white screen comes up with andy skating on the bottom. Tell us the info that is there and we can get you the correct guide for rooting the phone. Its really not that hard even though the newer method is more involved.

guess I should have just had you pull the battery to begin with. Fastboot wasn't off thats why it didn't shutdown but went into standby mode.

Ok here is the link you will need to Root. Please feel free to ask as many questions as you need to get you to the point of comfort where you will feel confident in the process. Also make sure to read a few times before attempting.
