Whats your custom ringtone?

hi all, I've copied a few MP3 music onto my microSD card in my Google phone (Huawei 8150, froyo 2.2), and when you play the music, you can set is as ringtone, but I ca not figure out how to use this music for messaging (SMS) notification, has anyone got a suggestion in setting up your MP3 music (in microSD) to be set as messaging notificaiton just by using the phone (meaning without downloading additonal app) ?, thanks

make a folder called "notifications" on your phone, put the file(s) in there and reboot the phone

note that the notifications for sms/mail/etc are played once rather than any given amount of time, so you'll want the audio file(s) to be pretty short, unless you want to listen to a full song every time you get a new message

lol. I once used a huge one, and it played for a very long time.... while in class. Had to pull the battery out.

Big stargate universe fan here . Ringtone is the gate lighting up and dialing when a call comes in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA3P9kqlLFc

Notification is totally random havent decided which I wanna stick with LOL

Of course I have a background of an active stargate on my wallpaper , I have thought about trying to create a live wall paper where if you touch the screen the water effect of the start gate will move like water

I am using one I made from zac brown band - chicken fried using the ringdroid app. Not using the whole song mind you but its about a 30 second part of it that I cut out as it was my favorite part of the song. Can post it up if anyone is intrested.

I also use the codec notification sound from metal gear solid 1 as a text message alert sound and one of the builtin sounds for email.

EDIT: Just attached it to my post. I have a few more that I made with the app using songs I purchased from the amazon mp3 app.

I use one of two ringtones for my standard ringtone, either the first 30 seconds of "The Spicy McHaggis Jig" by Dropkick Murphys, or "We're Knights of the Round Table" from Monty Python and the Holy Grail."

For text messages it's the R2D2 chirp, a very short one.
For new emails it's Yoda laughing.

Ringtone - Theme to Top Gear (Jessica by the Allman Brothers)
Text - Bazinga (Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory)
E-mail - some idiot screaming "I've got mail. Yeah. I've got mail."

General calls- Electric Funeral (Black Sabbath)
Wife calls- Nothing Else Matters (Metallica)
Son calls- Fly for a White Guy (Offspring)
Daughter calls- Semi-Charmed kind of Life (Third eye Blind)

I like that you can add your own alarms too.

I have one of a woman screaming. It'll definitely wake anyone up. :)

to go the messaging app and press the menu button; you'll find options there (similarly for gmail, gtalk etc.)

Don't you have to add the file to your SD card under /media/audio/notifications? I put my ringtones in /media/audio/ringtones and they showed up in my list.

You have to power off/on the phone for the files to show in the list tho.

ringtone: Secret Prayer by Joe Satriani, except for calls from my wife or from our home phone: guitar solo from Kayleigh by Marillion.

I used ringdroid. When I feel like it, I'll probably make a few more for fun.

Let's see

Wakey wakey: SpongeBob's alarm or my own recording of Reveille. I'm a heavy sleeper.

Default ringtone: Imperial March - London symphony orchestra or one of the 900+ songs in my library.

Ringtone for girlfriend: She Will Be Loved - Maroon 5

SMS: Was going to record a woodpecker hammering away at a tree, but it ended up as my dog barking.

Email: For Gmail I use the mail bugle call and for my other mail, It's AOL's "You've got mail!" with the sound of my .410 bore shotgun substituting for mail. Yes, I recorded that too.
