What's your favorite MLB team?

He won't end up in the rotation this season, that's for certain. They'll need to stretch him out and the proper time to do that is Spring Training. Right now, he's been overused. I remember a few nights ago he was only hitting 93-95 on the radar. I'm curious if being a starter is even in the cards for him with the way he throws.

good point but if he keeps developing his other pitches then watch out. the stuff he was throwing fielder and braun was nasty... going from 100+ to a 85mph off speed pitch was something to see......

No doubt about it. The guy throws 3 pitches and two of which are rather rare. I think he would be more successful if he put more use to his A+ changeup and B+ slider. Adding another selection to his repertoire would be deadly. Imagine a knucklecurve with his high cheese.

He's definitely a freak of nature. Though with cordero not being back next year i won't be mad if he ends up a closer, though it still seems like his talents would be wasted like that. If massett gets outta the funk he's in (though he has been better of late) then i'm all for him being the closer of the future and letting chapman progress to starter slowly

Just my opinion but Strasburg > Chapman.

hmm how long did he last though before injury?? he's great no doubt (is he back from injury? it wasnt tommy john he needed was it? cant remember)

no way to know till both are starters though. didn't pay much attention to strasburg, was gonna wait till all the hype died down first, he got shut down before that happened though

Yeeeeeeeeep. Tommy John surgery. He won't be back this season. You can expect a fully healthy Strasburg back in 2012 and slaughtering lineups across the majors again.

This was his line in 2010, however.

2010 WSH 12 GP 12 GS - 68.0 IP 56 H 22 ER 5 HR's 17 BB's 92 K's 5W's 3L's 1.07 WHIP 2.91 ERA

Set the ML record for most K's in pitcher's first three starts w/ 32.

I am big supporter of Boston Red Sox.;)

Booooooooooo! :p

5 walks??!?!?!?! DAMN!! lol. The man is a beast, lets see how he comes back though and how durable he is going forward.

Can't believe I didn't see this thread until now.

<<<< The world champions are on my favorite team :) :p

I know man. And I'm a huge baseball fan (sports in general - I go to a TON of Giants and Warriors games, and a few Raiders games).. never thought of even venturing into the Sports forum here lol

Bad Mod!! LMAO!!

I always been more about baseball myself... (with bengals as my team i'm sure you can see why)

I don't see as many games as i would like thats for sure. My Reds are struggling right now thats for sure

Hahah well I'll probably swing by here more often.

I love going to the games.. if I'm not at the game, I for sure have it on TV. I don't think I've missed a Giants game this season yet. I guess getting a world series ring has helped attendance alot cause we've sold out every home game so far - something I don't remember seeing in the many years I've been going to the park

Any of you guys doing fantasy baseball? We shoulda started up an AF one if there were enough interested

Know what you mean, i pay for mlb-at-bat every year cause working 3rd shift means i hardly ever get to watch a full game in 1 sitting..... Love being in the ballpark though.. nothing like it. My first ballpark memory was being at "Tony Perez" day during his last season.... '86 i believe.... i caught the tail end of some greats in the 80's... Bench, Rose, Concepcion to name a few......

I did fantasy football for first time last yearin AF league.... fantasy baseball seems like it would be awfully complicated.....

To be honest, I don't even remember my first time at the ball park lol. I was young.. probably 4-5 years old, and I have a few blurred memories of being at Candlestick (before AT&T Park opened), and remember we would always sit up at the nosebleeds haha. I think last year's Game 1 of the World Series is probably the most memorable moment I have at the ball park. Crowd, stadium, everything was ELECTRIC. I've never experienced something like that in my life and was so glad I did (along with the $1000 I made from selling 2 extra WS tix:p)

Yeah, fantasy baseball is alot more involved than football. I play them all, and by far baseball is the most complicated. There are a ton of stats you can pick from, and you essentially have to update every day. It isn't like football where you can check in 1 or 2 times a week and be good. In fantasy baseball, you're literally switching in starters every day, moving injured players to the DL, grabbing new starting pitchers, trying to guestimate any potential closers, balancing .AVG versus power (HRs), picking up players or moving players to the bench based on the match up (projected starter versus the splits a batter has on that particular pitcher and the ball park they're playing in) and a bunch of other stuff. Its much more stat crunching. I remember literally researching for hours on end, comparing stats and match-ups.

I tried getting an AF league going but there wasn't enough interest from folks.

Aww too bad.

Haha yeah man, I got 2 first place finishes, 4 second place finishes, 3 third place finishes, and 3 fourth or lower finishes. Me and my buddies get SUPER into it too. We are extremely competitive, and of course we all want to win the $ prize. Do you do head-to-head leagues or Roto?

Free leagues and I do 2 of each every year. I've never placed lower than 2nd in any of the leagues. I've won every year except last year in the league that I actually care about w/ my friends.
