When 8 core phone comes, can 2 core phone left behind?

As the phone updates so quickly, so till now there are coming the 8 core smartphone. while how about the dual core?

The price of dual core phones is going down, as people needs more high-end phones. But what the price and what is a dual core android smartphone would be interesting to you.

For example:4.1'' MTK6572W, 2.0MP Camera with Android 4.2 OS, 3G and GPS available, while price is $64.99.

Do you have interest about this one? Or what is your expectation?

1. 8 core phones are essentially 4 core phones with 2 sets of 4. The more powerful quad set runs when playing games, the weaker 4 runs when idling to save battery. So they are just the same as 4 core phones.

2. A big NO. I am currently using a dual core phone and tablet, and they are fine for me. The problem in that device you showed is that it's an unbranded chinese device whose quality is suspect. Check out this sticky:

Dual core phones will still be useful, not everyone needs a fast phone that can play the latest games.

I second the advice above not to buy the $65 phone.

Unless I'm sadly mistaken, the latest Goog-arola phones are dual core. Admittedly, they're not $65 but they are very reasonably priced.

My own view is that phones have reached the stage PCs reached a decade ago where even the budget models are way fast enough for the vast majority of users - the high end ones are so powerful, you only really need one if you intend to play games or run business s/w.

Or - like me - you're a bit of geek :D

From my limited experience, no brand or China brand stuff is crap. Not worth even offered for free.

For example, I have been toying with some DIY projects with android devices. Microcenter sold me Azpen A701 tablet for $20 (MSRP $80). I am struggling to find whats good with this tablet. The temporary audio device, audio output is pathetic. Slow as hell. It was more of headache than any use.

You get what you pay for.

The link that chanchan posted has very good overview.

lol. While I figure out something, good price is a great thing, while low price seems like a trap..:)

Seriously no. I wouldn't even consider that as a backup phone. I'd rather get one of them cheaper single core budget Samsungs/LG or even a Nokia Asha instead of that thing.

Myself, i worry about ram more than cores for futureproofness. I have quadcore but only 1GB RAM. id rather have 2gb ram even if it meant only dual core :)

I would concur actually, if I wanted a phone for backup and emergency, I'd think I'd want something reliable. The fact the vendor's URL is shown as **********.com, might say something about their reputation on this forum. I'm pretty sure I know who it is anyway.

WOOW, good to know what you really want anyway.

I'm not surr what you're trying to say. But me, given the choice between a cheapo chinese Android phone and a basic feature phone from a reputable brand, I'd stick to the reputable brand. Although it's not a real life scenario for me, that's just my opinion.

So in a word, we need to buy from from the trusted store/brand, and then consider the gadget, the price, the Rom, etc, agree???

sorry, Let me make it clear. I mean it is really good to know what we really want, then we would make the choice and accept the result comes from.

It's really simply an understanding that quality comes with a price. Considering that even a second hand Galaxy Nexus sells that cheap, it's really simple to postulate that the device you linked to is off lesser quality.

while personally I think the quality is too quick to say less, but it is a truth, it is hard to trust a unbranded phone.

You need to consider that specs hide a lot of info. So screen size doesn't tell you quality, nor does number of pixels in a camera. Number of cores does not by itself tell you performance (the architecture of the cores is more important). And none of this tells you about quality control - however, if they are selling at $65 at a profit, including parts, assembly, packaging, storage, marketing and distribution I can guarantee there is no quality control whatsoever ;)

That's not the only thing. ;)

256MB RAM/512MB ROM, 4.1" display @ 320x480px.... but then the OP should know all that as he appears to be affiliated to the e-tailer.

Android 4.2 with 256MB RAM, yeh that will be an interesting experience. GSM only as well, no 3G.

That is not exactly true. Sure there are some things from china that are not worth buying. About a month ago I bought a phone from china called zopo (in the link below is the review). The same specs as the GS3, but runs really smooth and fast. The device wasn't 80$ it was about 300$, but for such device without any contract that is a good price.
