When did you first come to Android?

Still trying to decide, Droid X or HTC Incredible? Have LG Dare now and today I can use my New every 2. I keep my phone the 2 years so it is important decision. Back to studying.

HTC Incredible is the one I would pick because HTC supports most of their phones unlike most manufacturers (Samsung etc.).

I would choose the Droid X because of battery life, signal strength, call quality, and over all hardware is better

Moto support is just as good as HTC

but Motorola blocks root access.. which is a total deal breaker for me....

This is news to me . I rooted my Droid X about 2 weeks after I bought it on release day. I wish I had known I couldn't root it, so I could get something different. :D

i have read the newier motos are locked... can not get permanent root. Glad the X got root.

It was rooted about 2 weeks after release, and always had a permanent root. Droid 2 was rooted about a day after release since it is essentially the same as the X. The droid pro, I don't know and don't care about :)

The phone without the permanent root is the G2 (made by HTC) and I think they have even solved that problem.

I joined Android in August of this year. I got a BB Storm shortly after they came out, but it was my first smartphone and I didn't know about the mandatory data package, and the Verizon rep never explained it to me, so that phone went back for a Dare.

When my upgrade was coming due, I started researching Android, and was really impressed. After reading a bunch of reviews on CNET, I decided on the Droid Incredible. I haven't been sorry yet.

I recently joined android and got myself an IDEOS not a bad price here in New Zealand for 379.00NDZ,unlocked so you can go on any carrier, whereas Iphones here can be 500+nzd with a 2 year contract and to get one unlocked it is over a grand NZD , not that i would get an Iphone anyway lol >.<
Loving my droid :D

Like 3 days ago! I am easing into it with the Huawei Ascend on a Cricket plan. Always had plain old cell phones until the Samsung Instinct came along. Got used to a touch screen through it but went to Blackberry about 2 years ago. Earlier this year my (now-ex) boyfriend got the Evo. He spent so much time with his face buried in that stupid thing that it affected our relationship! I'm loving Android so far but, damn, there's got to be some limits!

Anyway, I got fed up with Sprint and got out of my contract. Needed a phone but not really into signing any contracts at the moment. So I compared phones and plans, narrowed it down to Cricket and their new Android phone and plan was cheaper than the Blackberry so I jumped on the chance to try it out without much money or commitment.

Never been a fan of Apple other than my iPod Touch so I never considered an iPhone. Why bother when I can use my Touch for all of the apps?

I use Google a LOT so Android has made it really easy to keep everything between my phone and my computer synced up.

I hope you are playing when you say the EVO affected your relationship with your ex....

I love my Droid X....but there are some things the X cant offer that only a female can......

Just saying.....lol

I picked up my first Android just about a year ago. I came from a Palm Treo 700p to a BlackBerry Curve and was all ready to go get the Storm 2 when I started reading about the Droid.

I really liked the Droid and was dead set on getting it until I actually picked it up and started playing with it in a store. Lucky for me the HTC Eris was sitting right next to it and the size plus Sense UI had me on first boot. I went back home and researched the hell out of the little phone, deciding that it was what I wanted. The only snag was that I had to wait for my upgrade date. :( I was on the forum for a while before I actually had the phone, but once I picked it up it was all over and I knew I wouldn't be able to go back to BB or any other current OS. My Eris is now rooted and I've had a few different custom 2.2 ROMs running on it. It is still going strong on my third line too.

I made the upgrade to the Samsung Fascinate on the first Friday in October thanks to Best Buy's Free Phone Friday deal. I love it just as much as my Eris and I still can't see myself using any other OS.

I became an Android user 2 weeks ago. This is my second foray into the world of smartphones.

My first smartphone was the Nokia N97 which I got back in March of this year. I didn't know much about smartphones, but I wanted something that had GPS for an upcoming vacation. The GPS and mapping app on the N97 performed very well for my vacation.

What made me switch to an Android phone was the instability of the N97 firmware and the lack of a decent browser. When I first bought the N97, I did not anticipate I would use it so much for browsing and social networking. For these things, the N97 was less than adequate. Some third party browsers like Opera Mini and Skyfire extended the usefulness of my N97 somewhat, but I soon realised that the N97 was not going to do the job for very much longer.

After my vacation, I started looking for a new phone. I had two candidates. One was the Nokia E7 and the other was the HTC Desire Z. The Desire Z came out early this month here in Canada. I tried one out at a store and was pretty impressed with it. I was going to do check out the E7 when it was released and then make a decision.

Before the E7 came out, the N97, as Darth Vader would say, "failed me for the last time." I had managed to work around the short comings of the N97 for a long time now. What finally did it for me was the weather app taking 3 tries before it would start. It used to be able to start up the first time. I had managed to fix such issues or find work arounds for several months now. At that moment I had enough.

The Desire Z had just been released and I mulled it over for a couple of days until I finally pulled the trigger. My experience with the Desire Z was truely amazing. The best thing about it was that everything worked without weird errors popping up all the time. I did encounter a couple of minor glitches over my first two weeks with the unit. Still, it was truly rock solid compared to the N97. Out of the box, it did almost everything I wanted. It wasn't until a few days later before I had to download something. I needed a poker timer for a game.

I'm still in the exploring stage of my Android life, so I have yet to last a full day without charging. I'm still rearranging things. Ran into some issues and limitations with Friend Stream and eventually switched to the Facebook app. I think the FB apps is the one thing that needs improving. For now the default FB app and widget is adequate. Everything else is just awesome. Just have a bit of a learning curve for the keyboard, but that is expected as all smartphones seem to have slightly different physical keyboards.
