When did you get 2.1 OTA?

Rural Okla, bought mine on launch day, got mine OTA on friday 2nd of April. Woke up about 9 a.m. and it was there. It was not there at 4 a.m. cuz i woke up checked and went back to sleep. LOL

its hard to say it really is. glad to see so many with it, i have friends who are getting it now. one dude got it 4/3 and the other 4/4.

I know most of you guys and gals have manually installed the update, but for those who haven't (waiting to see if there are bugs to resolve) or already got it OTA, it might be interesting to see if there's a pattern. Relevant info would be: when you bought your droid, where you live (approx), and if you're on a family plan, did others on the same plan get it at the same time? (Any other relevant info I'm missing?)

I'm wondering generally if there's a pattern to how they decide to push updates to phones. Sorry if this is something that was figured out after the 2.0.1 update, but I was curious.

I thought that would be an interesting question too, in order to see if the early adopters were getting the download first.

For the record, I purchase my Droid from Amazon on Nov. 11th (just in the nic of time to avoid the increase in the early termination fee). I'm in CT. I received my update early Sunday morning, April 4th like around 1 a.m.

If the 200,000/per day is in effect then that means they've rolled out 810,000 updates as of Sunday. If the date of purchase correlates to the updates, we could extrapolate and say that since the launch (Nov. 6th, wasn't it), the Droid sold approximately 810,000 units in five days. That's a lot of ifs though. But fun numbers to play with anyway. :)

Got my OTA overnight last night and woke up to da install notice dis morning.

edit: had mine since Nov 11

Well, after reading through the whole thread, it's clear that the updates do not correlate to the date of purchase. Nonetheless, we could still gauge how many were sold the longer it takes for all phones to be updated. Based on 200,000 per day, we're at a million (plus the original 10,000 early testers) now.

I bought phone on 01/05/2010. Live Cleveland, Ohio area. ( Home of the
World Series 2010 Champs ... Indians!! ) Rec. OTA 04/02/2010 11:05 AM.
Have Business Plan. Don't seem to notice any real changes as yet. Will
let you know. Fred

Got mine on Sunday morning. Happy to see that voice-to-text button is alongwith the keyboard option. Tried Live-Wallpaper (makes the droid slow and eats battery) and gallery looks much better. But battery life is gotten even lesser than what I had.

Am I missing any major update?

I received the update today, went through the reboot, but OS hasn't in any way that I can see (my gallery became uninstalled). The firmware version shows '2.1-Update1'. Am I missing something or is the update a 2-stage process? Thanks for any info.

I just received my update 10:30pm mountain time. For some reason my phone thinks I'm in ouidah. That's in africa! Wtf! Just before the update my beautiful Widgets said I was in ouidah. STRANGE I think. My phone seems to glitch now. Argh. Ill see how I like this tomorrow.

Go into the App drawer instead of using the app shortcut on your home screen and click Galleries from there. That worked for me. I thought I had a problem because my apps are skinned and the new Galleries icon showed up on my home screen in place of the skinned version, but when I went into the app drawer, I clicked Galleries in there and it took me right to it. So I just deleted the one on my home screen and replaced with the one in the app drawer.

Also, if you press long on your home screen to bring up wall papers, you'll now find Live Wallpaper as an option. Additionally, when you press the input box in a message to bring up the software keyboard, you'll see a little icon within the keyboard to the left of the space key with a microphone on it. Press the microphone and speak. It turns your speech into text for your message. Works with gmail, too.

I bought my droid on release day. I am on a family plan but I have the only droid on the plan. I'm in Cincinnati and got my update this morning. A friend of mine has a droid that he purchased months after I got mine and he got his update yesterday morning.

I really don't think there is any pattern.

I got the OTA update on Wednesday of last week (3/31).

I picked up the Droid in early December, currently living in WI, and I only have a 1 phone, one person plan.

Got mine 4/5 in the morning. Live in C NJ and bought the droid in January. Family/Friends plan but no other droids to compare to.

I received it this morning. (Virginia) I bought early December.

The instructions from DroidMod helped explain why it would avoid the installation. It booted into recovery and then I chose to reboot and the update wasn't installed.

OTA update arrived just after midnight. I had my Droid in the multimedia docking station. Woke up and checked the time. I saw the update, hit the install button and went back to sleep.
