When im getting a call ringer is low then goes up

I noticed the ascending ring tone on my Captivate. I did some reading and found that it is a characteristic of Samsung phones.

I am rooted but I think I found a solution even if you aren't. There's a very light app in the Play store called "Disable increasing ring" and it's working perfectly for me. There is a constant notification which can be disabled by going to app info. Give it a shot.

I have tried this app out and it works! Thanks, gotta love the forums! :)

Does your phone ring normally now? I installed this but it's almost 2 a.m. so I know my phone isn't about to ring for me to see if it works or not. :sly:

My Note2 has done that from day 1 right out of the box no custom anything. It's actually really nice. I've never even changed the default ring tone.

Mine goes from lowest setting to highest setting instantly after the first ring. It is not gradual at all?

Nope not gradual and the posted app does work. I think I prefer how it was ringing before. Not used to it starting off loud..... can't please err'body. :D

You crack me up :D, I've never had any phone I owned ring low then louder.....I hated it! You're right though can't please err'body.

LOL!!! I missed my calling.....stand up comedy :D
You know how you hear something for so long that you no longer hear it after a while? That's what the ringer was like for me. I didn't start hearing it again till this thread and then suddenly it became a problem. :p

So, is ringing low volume then increasing a Samsung thing or what?? I can't seem to figure how to turn that off. I have the Verizon version using stock ring tone.

It's a Samsung thing. Install "Disable Increasing Ring" from the play store; problem solve. :D

You should be able to disable that on the phone without an app. Tap the green call icon then left menu button and uncheck the box that says increasing ring in pocket. That is unless your US carriers have blocked that on the note 2 also.

I guess we need that app. I have that box you mentioned unchecked (comes unchecked out the box) and still have that "feature" present. Its not a huge deal as this isn't Apple and we do have work arounds but I should be able to toggle that on and off out the box

Yeah I guess you do. I've answered a few queries on here and then realised that the phone is not the same as the UK version, and also how much things vary between carriers over there. But hey I'm learning about that which can't be a bad thing :)

When I get an incoming call, the first ring is very quite...

Is there a reason for this? How can I fix this so that it rings at full volume for each ring?

Thanks! :D

That is a feature not a bug or problem. This way if you are in a quite setting or have the phone in your hand it doesn't start out with a loud jarring ring. I do not know of anyway to change this.

It's a Samsung thing. Disable Increasing Ring. After install go into app settings and uncheck notifications.

Moving to a thread already in progress....

Guys relax its not a Samsung thing or an issue at all, its even in my other nokia phones and u cant help it, unless with app, which to be honest i dont like to load my memory with tons of apps that of no real use for me.
So actually its not a problem unless you dont like it, its everywhere, and they made it intentionally for reducing noise pollution, and live green, and its not a joke
like if in class or meeting they giving you this 2 sec to mute the sound and stop the noise instead it come out loud.
Personally when it happened with my old nokia it bugged me 1st but when i went and did search about the issue i gave up and got used to it, so am not having a problem now with my GN2 having the same issue..
Cheers

Its not that we're "not relaxing"

Maybe some of us NEED the phone to ring right away. I work on call and need to be woken up right away if my phone goes off. This is simply something Samsung needs to take into account when setting up these phones. They need to give people the option to turn off this "feature"

But its not only samsung, even my nokia do the same nd no way to change it
But I agree we sholud be free to choose
