Root When to wipe???

I'm considering going from Virtuous 3.1.0 to CyanogenMod 6.1 do I need to wipe? Also, is there a general rule of thumb or guideline when it comes to wiping?

Pretty much just do it every time unless your applying the same ROM/update or whoever released the ROM says it's just a flash over...

Cool, i just hate restoring all those apps one at a time. I've got almost 100. Thanks for the info though
