I heard that doing this will be the only true way of restoring the Droid X to stock and I'd like to have it just in case.

I found a file and some instructions on MyDroidWorld and was curious if these were the latest files, and also if these instructions seemed to be accurate. Thanks.

MyDroidWorld - Droid X SBF file released

...also just found this on Droid-Life.

I am just looking for the latest file(s) with the best/latest instructions to match. Thanks.

Hahahahahahah! Happy NY bro! Sorry, I was with family over Christmas and was snowed in yesterday. a LOT of shoveling. We saw a great movie, though.. "The King's Speech" fanTAStic. :D

I just realized I didn't make a backup of the stock rooted phone before deleting apps and installing a custom ROM. Does this mean I won't be able to install the next OTA update and will need to do an SBF? Where are the best instructions on how to SBF?

I'd create a backup in recovery of what you have now, then sbf to stock and make at least one backup of that in recovery. Then you can restore your rom and be where you are now.

So if u SBF with .320 then u do the SBF system only to .340, what u end up having in ur phone? is as Good as receiving the OTA form stock 2.2? I mean if there is any further OTA's (bug fixes or what not) u will be able to receive those fixes via OTA

In theory, you'd have the same as stock with the OTA.

The couple times I had to sbf, I immediately restored a backup. In my mind, a trashed setup repaired with an sbf isn't as good as a good backup.

OTOH, you don't have any choice.

Missing apps... no OTA.

Custom rom (again missing apps and deodexed)... no OTA.

Got it !! so is always Good SBF with .320 then system only with .340, factory reset and have a nanbackup of that

SBF w/o a reset should still keep your data and apps. I'd try that and reset only if you need to. A reset will mean you lose everything, have to activate your phone and only paid apps will restore thru market.

I wouldn't reset without a backup program like Titanium installed (I use Titanium Pro and MyBackup Pro) and a program like appbrain to keep track of what you had installed. I also export my settings in any program that provides that like Launcher Pro Plus and Folder Organizer. I also like screenshots so I know what my old screens looked like.

Worst case you just restore your backup from recovery and try again.

If you're running 340 (stock ota version) and you screw up your phone and need to sbf, the only full sbf is 320.

To get to 340, you need to flash the system-only 340.

Until something better comes along, that's all we have. Hope you guys are downloading them so you have them when you need them. :D

Thanks. I was looking all over for a full .340. Curious though. If on the OTA and roms (with backups not that it helped me last time)

Then would the system only .340 not reset all the apps and OS? I would probably try that first but that is just me.

You'd want the full sbf (320) if you were hosed and boot-looping.

The system-only (340) might get you back to stock if running a rom or stock-deodexed.
