Help Where da beats at?

Got the rezound last night...went to check out the marketing strategy of this phone(ibeats) with the provided headphones...and didnt notice any difference..my ten dolla gummy headphones sounded better lols...I was using pandora. Is pandora not compatible with this? Do I have to use a specific program? Does spotify work with the headphones?(thinking about buying the service).

As I understand it the ibeats earbuds were specifically designed to work with the beats profile to give you a specific "optimized" sound. However for now the beats profile ONLY works with the default music player. Meaning if you use Pandora or any other music app it won't work.
 
^^ What he said, although I've heard HTC is going to try to make the Beats available through other applications. Lets just hope they don't try to force 3rd party manufacturers into paying a licensing fee to have the EQ work (although I'm guessing that's what's probably involved).

And I agree that you'll probably get better sound out of a lot of "average" headphones on other devices, but where the iBeats shine is when used with the EQ settings on the phone.

That Beats is a $300 million feature on our Rezound!! (that's about what HTC paid to grab 51% of Monster LLC.)
 
I too have never seen the beats logo come up on my phone because I don't use the stock music app or the Verizon music service.

I thought the iBeats sounded slightly better than my Skull Candy FMJs.

I just hope HTC didn't fall for the whole, "Monster cables are the uberest of uber-cables!" shtick that I get from the goons at Best Buy every time I look for audio cables at their store.

I actually think it's funny that HTC marketed the Beats more than anything on the phone yet to the phone's credit it is winning over consumers based on other merits like actually holding onto a 4G signal, providing great battery life, having a great picture, etc. I guess HTC wants to make sure their investment in Monster pays off.
 
Monster cable is cheap stuff. It's the Best Buy Audioquest $2k HDMI cables that are uber-goody stuff:D (the jokes have been going around the emails/internet; the HDMI cables were $2k before this!! Now around $1100 each. If you search that site be sure to read all the funny fake user reviews.)

Yeah the HTC guys can only state the easy/obvious stuff like "This phone has Beats!!" because it really has it. There's a federal law that makes it difficult for manufacturers to advertise/claim stuff like best in grabbing signals, best this or best that. In the end, all manufacturers make commercials showing people using phones, dancing on the streets (holding the phone), in a taxicab with the musical phone, or family members texting from one furniture to another person on a different furniture in the same room ("lifestyle/usage" type commercial)... or go for some really wild/hilarious commercials that a normal or average person just will not mis-think it is a feature of this product.

(The two big cell phone companies with their "I have more nationwide coverage!!" ads had to quantify everything and those ads were a mess :))

I thought the actual headphones sounded good while playing back a couple songs on youtube. Heavy on the bass, though it did sound a bit muddy. They definitely sound better than my Sony MDR-XD200 over the ear headphones. More bass heavy than those headphones.

I know that these head phones aren't Klipsch but they are a ton better than the apple buds I'd been using. I don't mind the beats eq either.
 
I've been bouncing my Beats and Shure headphones back and forth on Pandora.
The only plus the Beats has over my Shures is that I can change the songs on the cord.
Haven't downloaded any music to test the beats EQ, but shouldn't be so cheap sounding without it
 
I am also a music nut and have some very nice headphones and ear-buds. The beats are very nice with great sound even though to me they are not a new level of incredible. But considering that they came, sort of free, with the rezound the whole package is a major bargain.

On their own the beats technology is great, not earth shattering but still very good. The ear buds themselves are top notch with respect to sound. The algorithms that modify the sound are well constructed and do enhance the music. When you add this to a phone that is the best we can buy now on verizon you have an awesome package.

I know ther are folks out there who just need that last micro of perfection but for average guys like me this combo rocks big time. I even like most of the Sense UI but then I am a barbarian so what do I know.

I was just gonna ask if working out with these headphones would be a good idea or not? My concern is damaging the headphones with my sweat(I get a descent sweat on while working out, but never hurt a pair of headphones..yet lol).
Also, do the headphones only work with devices that support ibeats?(Would be nice to use on my ipod but I didnt notice any difference).
 
I worked out with them today and learned their biggest weakness is running or anything with major movment. But lifting weights wasn't a problem. And as far as sweat, theyll last as long as most will. My other concern was the cord, its very dainty. I'm sure it'll take one good snag and snap.
I'm curious about how other headphones with the button intergrated into the cable work with this phone. These you can change the songs vs adjusting the loudness.
The iPhone headphones I read about control volume. Not sure if its a phone setting of a headphone thing.
 
The iBeats are quite heavy. I wouldn't use them for any kind of workout that involves a lot of movement because they're so heavy. And actually, I personally don't feel comfortable using the phone during a workout because of all the sweat. All it takes is a drop of moisture to set off the moisture indicator on the phone and you can kiss that warranty goodbye. In the past when I was compelled to use my phone to workout with, I would use a pair of Jaybird bluetooth headphones that were designed for working out in and guaranteed against sweat. They weren't the best sounding, but it felt so great not worrying about my phone nor my headphones. Now I just use an old but small MP3 player and my range of motion is almost as good. the ibeats vs my shure headphones, i think I actually like the ibeats better. I haven't experienced any muddiness/distortion with them in the music app, google music or any others yet. had the phone just over a month now
 
Some very basic questions here, I'm interesting in buying the buds for my Nexus. I know the quality won't be optimized with respect to software, I'm just looking for a nicer pair of buds from my current Apple ones.

1. Could someone provide a quick rundown of the controls? I'm assuming it's a mic & volume rocker, is there pause and skip as well?
2. Will these controls work on the Nexus?
