I admit my Epic Touch functions the way I wanted my EVO to, but I felt a passion and love for my EVO 4G that I don't feel for the Samsung. HTC's OS appeals to me more. And you have to assume that the 2012 EVO will be even better. Even if its not much of an improvement over the GS2 I will buy it when its released.
That being said I am happy when it comes to GS2's media abilities and its fine for now, but I only gave up my EVO because I had to and I only paid 20 bucks to get the Epic Touch.
Is it me or did the EVO also have more people discussing its good qualities a lot more than with GS2? I hope HTC recreates the magic.
if you wanted someone to talk too you should have gotten an iphone4s. thiers lots of problems to about with that phoneThis section seems to be dead! I thought it would be booming like the evo sections were when they dropped. Imo this phone is 10x better. What gives?

I am sorry to hear about your Evo 4G. HTC's stock software has gone downhill, I have to admit.I can't speak for the other sections, but most of the stuff in the Evo3D section is about customizing and accessories. And just general chitchatting. It stays pretty active and not a lot of problems solving going on. I keep up with the E4GT forum because I bought it for my son. The problems he has with his phone don't appear to have any fixes, other than I suppose rooting it maybe. Even after the last update, he still has the AOS problem, although it did improve. His gps is practically nonfunctional, assuming he can get a fix, it shows his position to be off by up to two miles. His call quality is pretty poor, regardless of how many bars he has, and the wifi reception is terrible. My wife and I have been using the Evo3D since release, and have had very few problems. Signal for wifi is always good, call quality is good, gps works great.
Honestly, I am still disappointed in the E4GT. It has so much good about it, but there is no way I would switch to it. My son still likes it OK, but coming from a BlackBerry, I would have thought he would be more thrilled than he is.
I'm glad this section exists though, even if it isn't terribly active. I'm no expert with android phones, and reading here helps me out a lot. Prior to my Evo, I was still using my HTC Mogul with Window. I know that when I DO have a question, someone here probably has the answer.
Remember the lurkers out there that you guys help, even if they never post.

I went through a similar issue with my Moment when I had it a year and a half ago. I went through 5 of those phones (the ever-annoying airplane mode problem). I moved on to an EVO and have loved it for the most part. I had it perfect before the forced Gingerbread update, but after that update everything started going downhill. Now, I have a bad charge port, and a power button that won't turn on the screen (it's software, not hardware based). Sprint ordered me a new EVO on Monday, but they haven't gotten it in yet (I'm hoping it'll be in today sometime). But as soon as I get it, I'll be selling it on ebay or something, and upgrading to the Galaxy S2 (I'm due for an upgrade anyway). What your son is experiencing sounds a lot like what I went through with the Moment. I swapped out the device and still had the same issues, so I assumed poor GPS and AOS (we called it CDMA lockup back then) were normal for the device. Eventually from reading posts other users not having issue, I did another swap and was surprised to find the GPS and data worked flawlessly. Why I lived with the issues for so long, I can't answer. My wife's E4GT is only a few days old, but so far no loss of data connection or gps satellite fix and we live in a relatively weak signal area. If possible, your son should consider getting the device swapped out. Have him log every time his data and gps fails for a while then bring the log with him to a repair center. I remember it taking a bit of work to get the repair center manager to approve that last Moment swap because in general, the phone appeared to function just fine. Polite but insistent worked for me. Good luck!
