On June 4th the day the EVO came out, my local Radio Shack said week of July 24th for the car dock. 2 more weeks, can't wait!!

That is what I remember also. I am hoping it has the build quality of the hd2 car dock. Otherwise I can live with this mod: HTC HD2 car kit converted for HTC EVO 4G use

That DOES look sexy as hell! I just hope the EVO model doesn't require you to permanently stick that damn disc on the back.
it doesn't look like that pictured above. and i'm pretty sure the car dock for the HD2 was also revised and now looks similar to the Evo car dock. it doesn't require a different battery cover like the above pictured. instead, it's a solid plastic piece that you just put your phone in. the base and arm are still the same, though.

Like many of you, I was trying to patiently wait for the official car dock for the EVO. But, I bit the bullet and went with a universal mount purchased from a Sprint Store for $29. Since I already have a car charger (a la Blackberry), I use that as my charger and you know what...it works great! The arm on this dock is extremely flexible and the suction cup holds it in place. It rotates from portrait to landscape very easily as well. And with the grounding issue resolved, using it in the dock is so freaking easy. I'm completely satisfied.
