Where is the love?

Last year there was a really cool Nexus thread, long before the GNexus was announced. There was crazy rumour and speculation, and a whole lot of fun. That thread was wild, fast moving and huge. Where oh where is that community for this years Nexus?

We're all hiding out man! This years LG is not really exciting, not to me or anyone I know anyway. I know it's quad core, but to me it's just blahhh! I'd much rather a refreshed Samsung Galaxy Nexus with a quad core, LTE, a Super Amoled + screen, and the same camera as the GS3. Let that come to the masses, and you'll see a lot of love.

I agree with Sean, I wish the new razor maxx hd was a nexus. I am ready for a phone made with quality materials that feels like the $700.00 I am going to have to pay for it. A battery that I don't have to worry about going dead or plugging in if I watch more than 30 minutes of videos on. I will say I am not apple fan, never have liked liked the ui, but they do two things nobody can deny. The materials they use are not cheap plastic, and and they don't let anyone dictate how their products are sold, even Verizon. If Google would just grow a pair and do the same you would see the nexus branding take off.

Just my two cents worth.

I'm excited for it! I'm up for a Verizon upgrade and I never had unlimited data, so I can't cry about losing it.
I Google search "LG nexus Verizon" daily. I'll be hella pissed if Verizon skips this one.

But yeah, I don't understand why there was a galaxy nexus watering hole and no LG nexus watering hole.

I would never get a Nexus on VZW again! After all that nonsense with them upgrading the OS and just treating the Nexus like just another Droid phone, I'll pass.

I'm using an iphone 5 right now until an unlocked Nexus with LTE bands is available to use on at&t.

I'm pretty excited about it. I'm using a Galaxy S2 and painfully resisted an upgrade to an S3 for this instead. I've not had a Nexus device (I have a 7, but not a phone) before so an looking forward to getting one of these. I would have liked Samsung to have developed something, but the LG one looks good to me.

Out of interest, does anyone know if they will be releasing details of any other Nexus devices at the Google event? I got my S2 only weeks before the Nexus was released and I'd hate to have the same experience this year.

Personally a lot of people just don't see this nexus as a game breaking phone. I think a lot of people have mixed feelings towards LG and really won't be excited unless this phone seriously knocks the socks off people, then we will be excited about the next LG Nexus, if there is one.

A lot of people just know that Samsung does a good job with the Nexus line and gets crazy excited about a new one.

And personally the LG Nexus really doesn't look all that amazing compared to the Gnex when it came out. :)

I thought the whole point of a nexus device was not having to wait for carrier updates? Lol

I have been in this same camp, but have recently been thinking a little differently. Verizon will NEVER have a true nexus, that is a fact. But if they do get a great phone with "Nexus" in the name I will definitely consider it. The key will be to convince myself that it isn't a real nexus, just a great phone with pure android that will get extremely slow updates unless I root and ROM (which of course I would do).

I'm intrigued by the LG but not really excited. And since I'm down on Samsung after the Verizon Nexus, I'm just hoping Verizon/HTC is currently working on the Butterfly J Nexus. Otherwise, I'm going to be waiting impatiently on the Motorola Nexus for this time next year.

Coming from an s2 I think this will be a good upgrade for me. Out of interest; would anyone choose this over an s3? The lack of updates for older handsets is a bit annoying...those nexus handsets appear to be kept up to date so far.

Yes! I had a S3 ... the radios were horrible and the plastic back was always creaking.

I'm excited for the phone but I'm on Sprint and don't know if or when it'll be on that network.
I think the hardware of LG, the top of the line specs and a pure Nexus experience make this phone top notch.
I don't see myself grabbing any other phone other than this. If Sprint skips out on this Nexus then I'm not sure what I'll do.
I'm rolling with my Nexus S right now and while it's not a bad phone, I can only imagine what the new phone will be like.

Does your Nexus S still get all the latest software updates? I'm just waiting for release details in the UK now.

yeah I thought about holding out and see what the LG nexus is all about, but from all of the rumors I`m hearing, I said screw and pre-order the Optimus g

I was tempted to preorder the Optimus, but after watching a few reviews on how the camera really can't hold a candle to the GS3 or the iphone 5, I decided to just wait it out and see what the Holiday season brings.

It has my attention, I'm curious on what the price will be since different rumors point to different prices. If it's reasonable, I might buy it.

I get the fear about it being LG, but my last experience with them was way before Android even existed. All the reviews of the Optimus G seem good, so I am happy enough. I have a GNexus, and my contract only runs every 12 months, so my upgrade is due. I was just hoping for another crazy big thread.:) It is a shame, but I guess many people can wait on this upgrade. To me the the hardware is a HUGE leap up from my GNexus. I love my phone, but now I own a Nexus 7 it feels slow in comparison, so I want me some quad core! :)

I like LG, not impressed by their android phones, but not bothered by them, and this seems like an open high end phone. I love the quad core s4 with adreno 320 gpu. However despite loving the internals of the phone, I hate the glass back, something breakable on the back is bad, apple did that for 2 years then learned not to do it, google should not be letting their flagship phone have such things. However that is not a big issue for me, what is a big issue, is a tiny built in battery, no expandable storage (I really think I need 64GB), and an LCD screen with a non 16:9 aspect ratio.

Sorry, but I've fallen in love with 16:9 aspect ratio super amoleds for watching videos, and anything less is just not going to work for me.

If the droid razr maxx hd could become the razr nexus hd and get an s4 pro SoC and 2GB of ram, it would be an idea phone, even if the battery isn't removable. Sadly such a phone won't come to pass, at least not this year.

If the LG Nexus gets 32GB of storage on verizon, I might consider it, but would definitely need some time to test in the store and think about it, and even then it would feel like a compromise on some level.

You and me both. As long as an LTE variant on Sprint becomes available at some point that is.

Most of the news is garbage. Recycled on non-tech sites that are saying the Sony nexus is going to be huge.

I'll just wait til next week to find out lol
