Root Where is the screen that say S-off?

Newbie
My phone is rooted with no problems. I was just curious as to how do I get to the screen that says s-off. I just want to see it....more for a we did it type of thing. :D
 
Hey Odinist, do you know how we can boot into recovery or the bootloader on this phone without ADB? For example on the OG Droid if you hold X on the physical keyboard while powering on you will boot into recovery, I forget the one for the bootloader but I never had to use it on the Droid.
 
Not sure about bootloader, but you can use ROM Manager to boot into recovery.

If I can figure out a key combo, I'll let you know. =)

Thanks man, yea I know about doing it from RM. It was just a nice feature to have if you ever ran into a boot loop, not that that ever happened or anything... :P

I'm gonna see what I can find out too, I'll post back if I find anything.

(anyone else that had the OG Droid find themselves trying to select a menu item in CWR by hitting the non existent camera button on this phone? lol)

Hahaha, seriously. =) Being able to boot into recover with hardware buttons is definitely one of the (few) things I miss about my G1.
 
I know on my old Eris it was hold down power and either the volume up or volume down. I will try one of those and report back.

Question lol.......if the RUU files are like sbf and are stored on a computer and you flash it with your device connected to the computer why would someone place an RUU on their sd card?

Part of the rooting instructions involve having a RUU on your SD Card...

The RUU files are run from the phone and not the PC. To run an RUU file you place it on the root of the sdcard and then boot up into the bootloader. As soon as the bootloader comes up it automatically begins to check the sdcard for the RUU. If it finds one it will only give you two options, to update or reboot. While RUU files are similar to sbf files they are completely different in how they get flashed to the phones. Personally I like the RUU process much better since so many people have problems getting rsdlite to run on their PC.
 
I see thank you guys for the explanation! Sorry all the questions just a little different ....we should make a Droid x to bolt convert sticky ....ok I agree that method is much better as well but what if I soft bricked? Just boot into bootloader and load the RUU that was placed on my sd when I rooted to recover?
 
I'm not sure what a soft brick is? If you're in a boot loop you should be able to get into either the bootloader or recovery.

soft brick is when you are not in a loop ,you cant get past the boot logo therefor having to sbf,(again i use droid x as a reference since thats all i know),,,now with the x when in a bootloop usually booting into stock recovery and wiping the data partition usually will allow the device to boot up ,,,is it the same with htc?im sorry for being unclear before,,more or less my question is what is the process of recovery?
