Where O Where is Google Earth?

SBacklin--your solution does seem to show more market content. I was able to find my can knockdown as well as Google earth.

Thank you, first person to actually post something accurate on here in a while.
Lol, I just happened to come across the info from another site and saw this thread here and thought I would share it. I'm glad it worked for you.

I refuse to argue about it. But I will just say that there are plenty of people that spend countless hours on here answering ?s for nothing in return but a thank you and self satisfaction of knowing they could help. And comments like you made are just uncalled for.
While you may be correct in stating that there are others that have answered questions accurately, there is no need to get your balls in a bunch. Its only an internet forum and for you to get all pissy about what he said seriously means you need to step back and not be so damned serious about it. I would bet that his statement means that he's been frustrated with the situation and even more frustrated that the answer or remedy couldn't be found until he came across my post and in finding my post experienced relief and had one of those "finally, this crap if fixed!" moments.

In short, don't take the high road on such a misc./trivial thing as this is an internet forum and people can say what they want. All the regulars know who has answered questions accurately and who post just to start stuff, no need to make a "scene" or anything of the sort.

I hope you didn't take anything I said up there ^ against you. Its awesome you found that info. I just said all that because it seemed like the other person was being very disrespectful.

Gotta keep myself assumed as I play with this experimental Gingerbread build on my SF...oops did I say that out loud

Back on topic if anyone wants the google earth apk it can be sideloaded ;)

You need facebook or twitter you have so much info I need to know ;)

Why does Google Earth App not show up on the Market for my Fascinate? Just not there. Tried to load with Appbrain, no luck. Tried to load from bumping with a friends incredible also on Verizon, no luck.

Are they hiding from us or am I missing something?

Bizarrely, Google Earth shows up top of the list when I search for it on The Market with my HTC Desire but using a friend's Samsung Galaxy S, absolutely no sign of it ... which makes no sense at all. Any ideas, anyone?

In the UK, btw.

That's what I've been saying about a lot of apps on here. It has something to do with this OS. If you search for a game called "Can Knockdown" it appears on other devices but not on a Samsung.

As offered above, if you remove the market update, there's a few apps that will show. Some can not be installed, there is "a problem parsing the package." Either way, once 2.2 comes out you'll have more compatibility.

I fired off an email to Verizon inquiring about this. Their office in Maryland called me to confirm that an update is planned for 2.2, but there is no time table for its release. In other words, ignore what most people keep posting on this site about it, especially relating to date specifics.

Google Earth wouldn't show up for me on my Fascinate in the "new market". I read from forums on Android Central that if you go into settings>applications>market and "uninstall update", it will bring up the old market and you can search for Google Earth and it should show, it did for me. I installed Google Earth, exited out of market and after I went back in, the new market is back. Give it a try.

I have been searching for days on the market trying to figure out what happened to Google Earth. This fixed that problem. Thanks for sharing!

PS. I have learned that arguing with other members of the forum (who have helped potentially hundreds of others) is just a really good way to make yourself look like a jackass. I learned from personal experience.

Wow, good new we are all having problems with finding Google Earth. When I first posted this and everyone else could see it I was thinking it was just me. And than the day after I posted it was there.

Now it is gone again by I don't care because it works fine without the update.

I am a happy go lucky camper.

***I have no problems with my SF because it is my first smart phone and I had no expectations. This thing to me is awesome...:)

Really, because it's visible with virtually every other phone, especially considering how "new" this one is. I don't blame the new market at all. There's a bunch of apps I can't view at all.

Thats because in your uneducated response, you decided not to investigate with the original DI01 market, THAT DOES SHOW IT.

There are many, many apps not visible to this phone, because it's on 2.1.

Upon receiving my phone, brand new(12/31/2010), when I go into the market and can't view Google Earth, I realize something isn't right(being on a Google OS).

If you think receiving a brand new phone, I would assume I should have to "investigate" with the original DI01 market, you're on crack. That's like telling me I should solder a PS2 port onto my brand new computer so I can use a keyboard.

Thanks to a user on here, we've established that removing what is currently considered a "stock" installed version of the market(in other words, downgrading, and unnecessarily as well), reveals google earth. After the market "re-upgrades", it disappears.

It's not being uneducated on my behalf, it's called getting a product and finding out that it's currently behind in it's own technology. Part of the anger a lot of customers have towards this phone is based on issues such as this.

chmodix, bottom line is you should not blame the phone model because some software made changes that cause that software to no longer work right with this phone. The Fascinate worked fine with the Market that existed when the Fascinate was released. How can you blame the phone for deficiencies in compatibility with the new market that was changed after its release? Isn't it the responsibility of the new to insure compatibility with the existing?

BTW, telling one of our developers they are on crack probably isn't a good way to get started here. These guys are working hard to make this phone better while others are just bitching about how bad it is. Try to show a little appreciation and not to fall into the latter group.

Again, the apps aren't compatible with this phone because it's lack of updating. Even if I download the apk files through another phone, there are numerous 2.2 programs that I'm unable to use.

Are you still not getting it? A lot of these programs require 2.2.

Try to show a bit of reality. Buying a brand new phone and finding it doesn't work with a lot of programs, and then being told "you should've used the di01 market" is rediculous. Any normal, and by normal, I mean someone who just uses their phone for everyday stuff without hooking it up to a pc to root it. I have better things to do besides brag to my overweight geek buddies about what rom I put on a phone. I wouldn't be on this site at all if this phone functioned the way it should.

I do blame this phone. This phone is why I can not utilize the apps that I should be able to.

My droid 2 had the same market(which was updated after I bought it), as does many other peoples' phones. They are are able to access the specific programs without having to modify the phone in any way. Logic(and common sense) tells me that there is an issue with this phone. And for you to say the market was changed after the phone's release, and it's the market's fault is absurd.

No more ridiculous than spending the money and/or contract time to buy a phone expecting future updates. A smart buyer buys it for what it can do now, not what it might do later.

By the way, last I checked, this thread was about google earth. Maybe if you stay on topic, you will glean more useful information.

Also, if Google changes the market and uses a new api, and does not work correctly with all devices they pushed it to, they ARE at fault to some degree. I didn't ask them to update my market and make my apps disappear and neither did Samsung.

You are a stubborn one.

There are the whiners and the ones who try to alleviate/works things out. Its obvious which group you fall into.
