Help Where's all the updates?

I may be jumping to the Galaxy Note if they keep jacking around and don't get a sense of urgency with their update.

I doubt it's a concern for you, but just in case ...

[Q] Video on Note - xda-developers

The gamma issues on the Note are much more profound than on the Nexus (though it appears to vary) and the hd samoled artifacts during video playback seem to be consistent between the note and nexus. Like I said, this may not be something you care about, but just a heads up. Of course, you'd be jumping carriers from VZW to the DeathStar but that's another thing entirely. :) AT&T's LTE coverage is pathetic compared to VZW.

if you think jumping to a touchwiz device is going to give you updates quicker, you have an bass akwards way of thinking.

*see fascinate, charge, epic, ect. even the SGSII is still on GB for the most part. it wont fix the "slow" updates.

Samsung updates their phones rather timely, quick oversea (SGSII got ICS update in March, Note is getting it soon). Here in U.S it's badly slowed down by wireless carriers. But Galaxy S phones like fascinate, charge won't get ICS because it's too much for its hardware. HTC, Moto won't update Incredible, DX, D2 to ICS either for the same reason.

I guess his mentioning G Note is because it seems to work better out of box, not because it's better update wise than Gnex. But the biggest issue is it's only available on at&t here. If verizon got it, I bet a lot folks would go for it over Gnex.

1. we are not overseas.

2. that is B.S. single core processors can run ICS just fine. ask my thunderbolt, ask nexus S owners. they wont update it because it doesn't make financial sense to do so.
either way, i wasn't talking about updates to ICS, i was talking updates in general. still not sure if original galaxy S owners have 2.3 yet or not. i dont think they do.

as for the note. i guess i could see that. still dont knwo how it would perform vs the nexus on the same carrier. i think everyone praises is because of the screen size. it has an amazing screen, but it is still running GB, which, in my experience was still super slow and laggy compared to my nexus.

Technically it's not impossible, but question is how smooth, reliably can those phone run ICS? I think GB is just enough for them.

And yes, all Galaxy S phones got GB last year though it took long time for US variants like fascinate, charge.

I'm curious...if we make it to the six-month anniversary of this device, and still have no OTA (launch day excluded), will those who have shown loyal patience still be satisfied?

I'm just looking for a reason to get a tablet/phone which Ive always wanted. Plus the Gnex battery life is not working out for me. ;)

When it boils down to it, the Galaxy Nexus is the best phone Verizon offers. It's the only phone with ICS, when it released it was the most advanced, and its still a badass phone. In my family we have a Rezound, RAZR, and Nexus. Also, we had the Bionic but traded it for a Rezound because the Bionic was horrible. I've been through the forums on all of the above phones and everyone has something they dont like about them, just the way it works.
When it comes down to it the Nexus beats all of the above phones in all aspects. I know the updates aren't rolling out as fast as all of us would wish, but in the end everyone with a Galaxy Nexus has ICS while the other phones do not. It's a love hate relationship with CDMA, Verizon's coverage area is the best I've had, they rolled out LTE faster than anyone else, but to get these perks it comes with the price of delayed updates.

IMO of course :)

Honestly I am getting a tad bit impatient and starting to wonder if I made the right choice. It shouldn't take this long to update any phone that has known issues.

unless they are trying to find the issues with extensive tests... i just want the radios fixed, and the silent mic/robotic mic bug gone! those are my biggest problems right now

when i still had my thunderbolt, i ran a VERY early build of AOKP on it (data and calls didn't work) but the overall feel of the OS on that phone was still very smooth and quick. not quite on par with the nexus, but much, Much better than GB and completely usable.

I have both the Nexus and Rezound on my account. ICS aside, I'm seeing Rezound as the best phone Verizon has right now.The Rezound has been virtually problem free and has excellent reception/speed. And I admit, I have a slight preference for Sense. But I'm not giving up on Nexus...

These problems must have to do a lot with the towers and where ya live. I have no signal or hand-off issues with my Nexus, but the Rezound does have hand off issues. All though not as bad as the RAZR or Bionics I've used.

It's all about preference. My wife has a Rezound and I have Nexus. Personally I think the Nexus is far superior in look/feel and performance, battery life, build quality, options of cases and accessories. Long term I also see the Nexus as being much better as well. This is all based on me having a Nexus completely without issues. Also, having stock ICS will not be matched by ICS + Sense, I'm convinced of that.
