Must try this angry birds game, I avoided it because I thought it was another shitbook game, but I saw on wikipedia that it originated on iphone and it looks awesome.

Angry Birds is fun, nothing too sophisticated but it is addictive as hell. Go into Aeroplane mode (hold the power button for menu) before launching it if you can't stand ads.

I don't think any Tegra 2 exclusive games work. I asked a developer about this and didn't get much of a response. Perhaps if other people joined that thread, they'd realise the error of their ways.

Makers of Dungeon Defenders are taking ages to make the game compatibile with gingerbread, doesnt work on Galaxy S with 2.3.3 either.

Yeah I downloaded the Tegra zone app and all the games say they are not compatible

Just about every game I have tried has crashed after a few minutes of play. Even ones downloaded from the games hub. Seems there is an issue here has samsung need to sort out.
I am not a big gamer but it is still annoying for a flagship phone to fail at what other cheaper phones can do without problem.

Anyone know of a feedback site for Samsung?

You mean the phone? :)

GameLoft are strict about what phones their games run on and will possibly need updates for the SGS2. I read they limit platforms to stop piracy, maybe this means they make a different version for each handset so one version can't be passed around, which would be why you have to select yours. That's just speculation.

I've had no problems. Tegra games apparently don't work, I haven't tried personally, and GameLoft games are generally unavailable. Everything else seems to work well, including GameLoft games through the GameHub. I have Just Golf 2 installed and working well. I can believe some games will need updated and the SGS2's firmware might need a few tweaks (one of the reasons I'm in no hurry to do that fiddly root hack) to fix a few issues but I've no doubt this handset will be great for gaming.

with the games hub being somewhat of a selling point... pretty sure Samsung is gonna be on that relatively quick. not worried, though. by the time i get my hands on one in late June, all the bugs will be worked out :D

Yah this is just a matter of these games are not coded for the Mali GPU. Give them time they will get there. I am not really worried about it personally. As popular as the GS2 is going to be the games will come.

add pro evolution soccer 11 to the working list only prob it causes is a lot of heat near the camera lense

Specifically coded? We are talking non-Tegra games right? All Android games should work, no strings attached?? Why must they be specifically coded?

I know. It's a damn shame android gaming is going down the PC gaming route. It's exactly why I left PC gaming years ago.

Due to the S2's likely popularity, I'm sure things will be fine for the phone (I hope), but it's not a good sign for android as a platform in general.

Dropped

Aren't these games written for OpenGL 2.0? The whole point of that is so software can be hardware independent.

The Egypt part of the GL Benchmark runs perfectly on SG2. So I'm not sure compatibility is the only issue, Atrix has the same problem with many games.
There may however be some issues with OpenGLES2.0. On my own game I had to turn off bloom to actually see the game (with bloom on I just got a black screen).
I think once developers see how popular (hopefully) S2 is, they will update their games.
EA needs to pull its finger out for sure.
I also believe that options menus for android should start looking more like PC ones where you can turn off and on graphics features to ensure maximum compatibility.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a newb, how ar you guys getting these games? From the market, games hub or elsewhere?

The Games Hub has several GameLoft games and there are more on the GameLoft site, however getting a compatible version from their site isn't always possible yet. The Market has plenty more games but not GameLoft ones (NOVA, for example).

Spiderman HD, Splinter Cell and Golf Battle start but there is a major problem with the graphics. Most of the colours and textures are missing so it's impossible to play.

Modern Combat 2 just plays the intro then shuts off. I read in another forum that that the developers are working on a fix for this.
