Root Which permissions to revoke?

OK, I downloaded Permissions Denied, and love the idea of it...I'm just not sure which permissions I want to deny apps...I don't like the idea of an app being able to read and change my personal data...contact data. What else should I be looking to restrict?

Will certain apps stop working if I mess with the permissions?

And, I'm curious...why would an app need to "access network state?" what does that mean? and "access wifi state?" I'm sure it's something obvious and I'm being ignorant...

That's whether or not your on 3g or wifi. Apps do stop working when some permission are removed. Most permission are needed for the app to run because of the way they were wrote.

Google the Android permissions so you can understand what they do better before choosing which to deny. For instance, apps need to be able to access the contact list simply because it is part of the system where you can determine the phone's specs.

To be honest, Google has not done a good job on grouping and identifying permissions. The groups are to wide, and the identifiers are to vague for the average user.

Your best bet as you are learning is to take it one app and one permission at a time. Deny the permission, then test the app. If it continues to work fine, it didn't need that permission. ;)
