i assume you got md5 msimatch means you have xrecovery installed.
if thats the case, try another rom but if you rename the eminence folder to _v1.2 it should work, xrecovery doesnt work with files with a space in the name.


if you keep trying and reading the various threads you will get there in the end and be willing to try other roms.
you should try the 2.2 rom aswell, just to see if you can get it installed and go back to 2.1 if you need the camera

I uninstalled xRecovery to and went to re-install, but it wouldn't install. I'm backing up all my data and apps, then i'm formatting memory card, and resetting phone to factory settings, then i'm going to try again, should work perfectly then :)

Do I have to upgrade to 2.1 before I install eminence or does eminence include 2.1, allowing me to install it from 1.6?

About 2.2 rom, I will not be installing it, as I have a newborn baby so my partner and I take alot of photos and videos lol

but yes ideally you want to upgrade to the latest version of 2.1 first so the kernal is updated. the rom itself shouldnt matter.


the best thing for you to do is install this:
Generic 2.0.2.A.0.24 firmware (21/12/2010) | rooted | for xRecovery + X10flasher - xda-developers
but you will need xrecovery install first

I'm only formatting my memory card because I have too much shit on it that I don't need and it's using up too much space.

I'm confused now. Could you please tell me what I need to do step by step after factory reset to 1.6?

ok if your on 1.6
follow the first post in this thread step by step:

that will allow you to have 2.1 on your phone.
once you do that, you can install z4root and search busybox on the market.
reinstall xrecovery and then install the rom of your choice, i recommend eminence but remember to rename the folder to eminence_v1.2 before you place it on your phone in the backup folder.
 
Will have to continue tomorrow as my broadband has been cut off due to maintenance. They said it won't be back on until at least six am

EDIT @ 2am: Internet has just come back on so I will continue from now lol
 
Finally got it installed, and I must say it is fantastic!!!

It's a million times better than the screenshots make out lol

Linpack doesn't work, when I click save it shows the "sorry stopped unexpectedly" message

everything else works fine (as far as I know)

Also, I don't know if this is just me, but in-call volume seems to have improved. But like I said, it's probably just me lol

EDIT: After spending over an hour putting all my apps etc back on the phone, I realised I signed in with the wrong Gmail account, so I have to start from the beginning lol

Another problem is....I can't get facebook to work on timescape. I re-installed timescape, but everytime I try to sign into facebook or twitter on timescape, it says the logn details are wrong, but they are 100% correct.
 
i dont have timescape installed but i think if you put it back on you need to install the plugins too.
i know the issue, i have seen it when i try to do something else and it wouldnt accept my details, someone else may be able to respond with a way to fix it, i'm not sure what causes it though
i have facebook installed but not timescape

Well i didn't really want timescape, I just want facebook and twitter to update status via contacts list
 
yeah i cant get that to work lol i think its linked in with timescape so if thats not fully installed aslong with facebook it probably wont work.
i just update facebook from my app

i just checked my froyo rom and it doesnt even have that option so i think SE have tied it in with the other apps.
might have another look at it when i'm back on 2.1
 
Well I've removed timescape again now lol i can live without it

Now market has stopped working, it dissapeared, so i manually installed it, and it forces close all the time now
 
try going into applications and then clearing the cache for the market, or try reinstalling it
if all fails, reinstall the rom again.
i found when installing all these roms sometimes you get market issues to begin with but clearing the cache seems to help

tried everything, not working

I guess i'll have to re-install the rom, which I really didn't want to do, as it takes too long to restore all my backups
 
i saw in another thread you updated the market after installing eminence.
you should just leave the market to update itself, it could take around 2 days (it did for me) but it will save you hassle of messing it up.

O didn't know that, I assumed it wasn't updating because it usually took less than 5 minutes to update
