Root Which Rom now?

Hi All, I put CM7 on my X a few months back but as they are working on CM9 now we never get any new updates (nightlies) for the X.
Sooo..... what is new best mod for the Droid X? and can you go from CM7 to some other mod using the existing clockwork mod app?

you've had experience with the 2nd init ROMS...which have their advantages and disadvantages....

ive you're looking for what is more than likely going to be the best most stable ROM is Liberty...i loved ApeX on Froyo...and ApeX was awesome on Gingerbread as well, but Fab just never was as into updating ApeX this time around and Liberty took the title for me...
 
The biggest disadvantage to 2nd init Roms is the battery drain. I'm not gonna go into to much detail as the 2nd init process is very involved. But the basic is the 2nd init process highjacks the 1st init process in order to get the Rom to run correctly.

Because of this there is more drain on your battery making battery life shorter. Inshort, there are more processes running on 2nd init than on 1st init Roms. I know there is a link somewhere on just how the 2nd init process works but i don't know where it is.

But, as always, Google is yer friend....;)

Stevenfreeves, follow the link in the Roms sticky to the latest CM7. I'm using it now and it's not bad at all. Give it a try first and then decide if you wanna give another a try.
 
no, my dx had full charge every morning
went to work
put phone on airplane mode the whole day, leave work (after playing a few bathroom games :p)
it would be at 90% and when i go to bed, after heavy usage, at 30-40% so from 4:30-12-1am, not bad for 2init IMHO

I have noticed decent battery life on mine too running the latest CM7. I get through the day about the same as you. It's really important to let the Rom settle for a couple days with a few charges first before you start tracking battery life though.
 
I did read something about 2init, made it sound like some mobster or something. But I didn't notice anything on extra battery drain. I'll run my CM7 for about a week then try another ROM and compare battery drain. Is liberty good? I have the latest on my SD card
 
If you're still running the "official" CM7 nightlies, then you're missing out on a LOT of CM7 activity taking place at the Rootzwiki forums. RevNumber's unofficial builds, now done by Int_Rnd_Pooka, are FAR superior to the the so-called "official" builds. There's not one drawback.
