Help while rooted i deleted keyboard

Kyvous

Lurker
i rooted my phone and was playing around with it and i deleted my main keyboard after installing a different one a few days later i forgot about that and factory reset my phone i can hardly do anything now because i have no keyboard and all the system apps i deleted i want back so please help

If there's no keyboard, I suspect the OP can't add a Google account (after the factory reset) and therefore won't be able to install anything from the Play store.

Kyvous, do you have a built in file manager on the device? You should be able to download the Google keyboard from apkmirror.com, copy the apk to your device, then install using the file manager.

Failing that, installing via ADB might be an option?

Oh I forgot about the data wipe. Well spotted mate.
How will he find a keyboard on apk mirror btw, just scroll?

It would need to be done from a PC and copied over that way.

Presuming you can't setup a Google account via voice? I know I couldn't anyway, even when I spell it out, Google has a field day trying to work out my surname! :p

Yeah and I can't see it working with password.
Maan I always forget about PCs as u don't own one lol I'm so self centred :D

What's your surname? I'm a Smith

What else did you delete??
Factory reset doesn't touch the system.
What phone is it?
First thing you really need is a keyboard tbh. It's like the 2nd worst user facing app you could have deleted (after launcher) I think

i uninstalled a bunch of useless apps but i want them back to make sure i dont ruin anything else i have right now a lg idk what kind the name though sorry :(

Boot your phone without logging in and make sure everything else works then (and then get a keyboard as guided above)

Try downloading either of these keyboards to your PC and then install them on your phone the same way that you did with the first one. The Google keyboard itself may need more Google "stuff" to work, and that's why it's gave you problems.

There is no simple option if the OP is wanting lost factory apps back which appears to be the case. If we knew the model of the phone and the exact apps which were lost in the FDR, we could try to upload the apps and reapply using booted or custom recovery root access. But the smart money is to kdz/tot back to stock then re-root unless 3rd party app solutions will suffice. But since system apps were seemingly lost here, errors moving forward are likely.

In hindsight, avoid factory resetting a rooted device unless it's via custom recovery in preparation for a custom rom flash.

Think we need to re-flash the correct LG firmware for this particular device. That will most likely ensure you have a properly working phone, quickly.

Then next time be more careful about deleting and tampering with essential system components. Rooting a device is a bit like ignoring "No user serviceable parts inside." notices, and if you don't know what you're doing, stay out!

An example of deleting something you think is useless because you don't use it, but is actually essential. Is deleting Google Calendar, you do that and you'll find that no calendar apps you install will work at all. They crash immediately.
