Root White screen...

part of the reason you you partition is that a sym link is created between your apps, cache and dalvik cache and your internal system. and this frees up a lot of internal memory. when you boot up (especially after wiping dalvik cache)it has to rebuild dalvik cache. if you partition, it should be doing it on your sd card. things could have screwed or gotten mixed up. so re-partitioning it might set everything correct.

yo I just noticed a few files in the clockwork mod backup folder including recovery.img, should I bother with any of these files

i do not recall seeing any recovery .img file that is in the clockwork mod backup folder. i would not worry about those. it has been a while since i was on clockwork mod.

edit: what version of clockwork mod do you have?

I partitioned the sd, copied the rom over to it, cleaned all 3 diff things, installed rom from sd successfully and still sitting on htc evo white screen for last 25 mins

I ran pc36img and finally got the phone to boot so then I booted back into bootloader and ran the steps above from post 8 and again I cant get past the htc evo 4g screen......

ok, I finally got the custom rom (kings alliance) I think, to boot up, now im trying to figure out how to restore my nandroid backup to get shit back to normal

yea, 2 gb or so, when I go to settings - storage, the internal space is now like 350 mb as apposed to a lot less before b/c the 50 mb warning msg kept popping up :/

now I need help, I restored the nandroid with the new rom and everything reverted (including the partition) back to the way it was originally...how can I use the new rom and have all the apps and settings the same ?

yeah a nandroid is a complete picture of what your current state of your phone is. your card is probably partitioned but your rom may have not flashed into the partition. try just wiping your dalvik cache, and cache and re-flash your rom. do not do data as it will wipe your apps and settings. by re-flashing and if your rom is supports a2sd then you should be good to go.

thanks for all the help, I messed it up again and had to hboot the recover rom and then use rom manager to flash the custom and just had to use titanium backup to restore the apps, all other settings I had to redo myself..in the future is it possible to keep the sense settings, ringtones and sms msgs all that when upgrading to new rom?

i believe that there is an app for that, but i do not use them. it has come second nature for me to know what i want on my phone.

one thing though on rom manager. do not use it. it is very buggy and will cause you more issues then it is worth. do everything manually.

Ive heard, but manually wasnt working as u know..I did go into rom manager and click load rom and it wouldnt do it but it took me to clockwork to do it manually anyways so..

i had very bad issues with my phone with rom manager when i first rooted my phone. i quickly switched to amon ra 2.3 and have never had any issues since. and since i have been on this forum, most of the issues i see are usually from rom manager or from clockwork mod. i have yet to hear anything happening because of amon ra. for some though, they have not any issues. i just thought that i should put that out there for you to know. either way, i'm glad you were able to get your phone back up and running.
