Root White Widow Consolidated Thread

So I have a question... seems that since I flased WW (which I LOVE BTW), I have been getting terrible reception and 3G ... I tried to update my roaming cap, but it keeps bringing me to the phone activation screen, and I can't hit the number 2 button to update. It then ends and says "sorry, can't activate. Please go to an area with better reception". Any ideas on how I can fix this

I'm on WW 4.3 btw

since you cant bring up the keypad incall-which IS a pain in the ass, not my fault, thats due to the CM commits- you need to program the 2 and 1 in right away
hit *228 then menu. hit the add wait button.then one or two
then hit call. it will prompt "send the following tones?" hit yes

there you go.
took a little figureing out on my part too :P

Colonel panic can you actually add that info to the first post? its kinda important i think :P

Added to post 2, which I have opened up as a "fixes" post.

I've spent a lot of time on forums and the ones complaining about andrizoid are just like all the other trolls I've come across. Just drop it and move on, this is a tech forum for droid phones not a playground for little girls.

As for including setCPU against the devs wishes the dev also posted how he was angry he wasn't getting credit. Andrizoid has given him full credit and even recommended donating to the original dev so whats the harm.

Andrizoid I love this rom it works almost seamlessly. I'm currently running 4.1 and it looks like you've already released 4.3 i'll download in a few and get it on my phone. Im just hoping it's a no wipe flash over.



Also I have one question. Has anyone been using metamorph on this rom? I'd like to see some more skins get put to use but I'm a little confused with the reverting back to stock to much to take the plunge into applying a skin.

Haven't tried metamorph.

SetCPU is added as an optional install but it can easily be obtained through a Google search for free. There is also the overclock widget which is free and what I use. Its right there in the market.

i am using MM. to go back to stock you have to have a nandroid

The harm my good sir comes from the fact that the original dev has expressly asked that no one include his product (setcpu) in any rom at all, no matter what. That was made clear in his thread/post. He didnt say "you can include it if you give me credit" he said dont put it in your rom. Thats the harm. Including apps that have no business being included in the rom.
 
SetCPU is so well known by rooters that I don't see any reason to include it in a ROM; it's going to be acquired in the manner its developer wants it to be acquired by a very high percentage of rooting enthusiasts at some point anyway.

So Andrizoid, instead of including it in the ROM, just include a link to the developer's post on XDA where your users can download it if they're members. And if they're not members of XDA, they can just use OverclockWidget from the market instead.

Just a FYI for you.. the creator of SetCPU has been notified that you are including his app in your rom, and Google has also been notified that you are including their apps in your rom. Hope you enjoy.


people really have no life...and they havent realized that they arent smart enough to shut me down.
set cpu isnt included, its in the optional installs. like frisco said...most people are going to find the free link anyways, and the few who dont are going to donate whether its pre-installed, included on the sdcard, or whatever.

people need to get a life. dont they have better things to do than mess with a dudes rom?


and for the metamorph, look around man. we dont have copies of everything. any metamorph for a cm build will work

and for those of yo having issues with google apps, try the link now. i had to fix it earlier this morning.
also if you want you can just install over 4.1. its a no wipe flash so there wont be any issues.

ALL ROMS are in violation of someones license agreement. If you create a rom and activate the device you are technically in violation of your carriers terms of use. Whatever carrier. Read the threads.

How can I gain unauthorized access to carrier X's network to do X. Obviously some folks are mad too bad they cant put it behind them. It is unproductive to be that way. (Yes I added the "unauthorized" part for effect but that is what it is)


One way to quell the complaints and to not put the mods here in a weird spot, is to just pull the gapps and setcpu (hell boycott setcpu). Then link to them. I will see what I can do about getting some hosting and then you can put them up but in the meantime any upload site will do. They are freely available from Google. But most devs package them up which in most cases violates Google's terms of use. Cyanogen maybe an exception as I believe they negotiated an agreement.

At the end of the day, with Google apps removed this ROM will still kick ass and people will love it. (and add the Google Apps)


I'm certainly not trying to prolong this but the whole community is somewhat of a "those in the know" type thing. Can't we just get along. I hate to see another thread threatened over this business. :mad:

Andrizoid what do you think of putting out a ROM and linking to the apps ?
 
i actually think im going to take a break. the eris community has made it their goal in life to shut me down. maybe i should just go get an incredible and say f u all :P

really though, i just dont want to deal with it anymore.
someone reported the website and its shut down till further review. i told them to go ahead and shut it down for good though.

its sad that people have nothing better to do than to follow me around and make shit difficult.

overall the eris users are pretty awesome.
theres a couple though that are just dumb little ****s-pardon my language-and ruin it for the rest of you all.

4.3 is pretty much the end anyways though. theres not much else i can do to the rom.

eventually im going to release a sense and a froyo build. ill put it on xda and watch the haters pile up.

4.3 isnt hard to find. tons of people on xda and AF use it. google is also your friend. as of now though im kinda done with CM builds. theres enough of them to hold you all over.

email me to get 4.3, or you can ask around.

apologies to the mods for all the hassle that white widow has caused, its really not my fault though. all this drama has been brought on by others.

all the guy wants to do is develop a nice vanilla ROM for us Eris users
