I mean, seriously, I was all about to jump all over the new Moto X because I love my wife's current generation Moto X so much better than my galaxy s4. However, the announcement of the next generation Moto X was so underwhelming, that I couldn't see just jumping on it for a new phone. At least not without waiting for more information on this.

What is everyone's expectation of release date? Obviously an announcement is coming in the somewhat near future, or they wouldn't have activated the Droid_Landing Twitter account so soon. I'm sure this phone will carry a price premium, which is probably part of the reason the new Moto X is so cheap on contract and for that reason, they could also release them pretty close together.
 
It is about time Motorola got it in gear.....very disappointed in them when google owned...I am curious about the Turbo and very anxiously waiting.

I can live with anything under 6 since I'm using bluetooth 100% of the time. But I don't know that I can give up a battery like my Maxx has.
 
I just went from my beloved Droid Maxx to a Samsung S5 and to be honest I don't like it and the battery is not as good but the biggest thing I can't get over is I'm left handed and when I hold it in my left hand I cant reach the back button. I asked about there being a new Motorola flagship phone coming out and everyone told me nothing in the near future. After having the S5 for I week I stumble across this thread. I hate to take a phone back but I'm just not happy with it and fighting a phone set up for the right handed world. They told me I had 14 days to return and I think i will and see what the turbo brings. ..
 
Can't wait to see what battery this phone has. Looks like this will replace my moto maxx! It will be nice to have a 5.2" screen in the same size phone as last years max!
 
This will probably be my next phone after having two Samsungs with poor radio hardware..... Just wish this Turbo had on screen buttons and didn't have the dated carbon fiber back...
 
I am an early adopter of a Droid Maxx, so this probably won't be my next phone. The successor of the Droid Turbo will be much more interesting to me.
 
I'm personally blow away by the rumored specs for the Turbo! Plus I like the looks from the leaked pics... Was considering the new X but not anymore...
 
Certainly means the Turbo release is imminent. Anyone recall how much time Verizon took between offering other phones for free and the release of the next gen device?
 
I'm expecting that the new processor in the turbo can handle the the true (screen off) always listening function of the X and the MAXX? Got the Maxx and won't give up the battery of the always listen. I just use it too often
 
I almost want to go get the X and play with ans see if it meets my needs before the turbo comes out, then eat the $200 loss in resale if I end up wanting the turbo. Has there been any software rumored differences?
 
It's unclear if it has a SD card or not. It doesn't seem like it, but I could have sworn some of the early leaks said it did. If no SD card then it definitely has to have 32 or 64 GB options. None of that 16 GB crap. I'm dealing with that with this Droid DNA. I love the phone, but by the time I was halfway through my contract I found myself having to carefully ration out memory. I don't get why all these Android OEMs are adopting this "no SD slot" stance. That was one of the major advantages Android phones had over iPhones.
 
I was looking at the Turbo, Z3 and Note 4 (preorder but might cancel).

Turbo now is dead to me, since no sd slot. For a high spec Android device this is nuts.

Z3 does not have capacitive buttons, but instead hogs .5" of display space in apps with a lame navigation bar.

Note 4 I have on preorder due to the $200 deal, but the size is still an issue for me and I really dislike Samsung bloat and all the sensor bloat too, since I do not use them.

If I can root the Note 4, that might be what I get. That, or keep the S4 until next year when the 20nm 810 comes out. Likely first device will be the S6 that has it.

The tide seems to be changing now that Android L supports them better in framework. Most new top devices have them- except the Turbo and I think that is going to make likely low sales even lower.

Good job Motorola! NOT!!!
 
Not everyone needs to have Gigs and Gigs of music on their phone or several HD movies. I use my phone as shocking as it will seem to some of you, as a phone. I actually talk on it several hours a day as well as surf and text. The fact that my current phone a G2 has plenty of space I find that I've only taken up a few gigs. I have some music on there, but if I want to listen to something different I use iheartradio or Pandora as data is not a factor with my unlimited data plan. Another reason that they aren't putting cards in phones is that the Carriers certainly don't want that. They want people to have to use the cloud to access things. It has the potential to use up their monthly data and thus cause overages. And Motorola was owned by Google when the Turbo was designed? Does Google put cards in their Nexus phones?

I'm really looking forward to this phone. It just can't come soon enough. I don't want last years z2 - i wanted this year's z3.

The turbo is looking really nice. It will be my next phone. Hopefully the end of october this thing comes out.

I'm getting tired of my g2 getting stuck in 3g freeze. Need something better.

Ef the cloud. Be smart about what you put on your phone.

They want you to pay for cloud space...either now or eventually
 
I still use the razr maxx hd, and love the phone. Kept ice cream sandwich for two years so I could keep mass storage and the sd card space on my phone. What I found is that I don't even use it that much...and lately, not at all! I still like ice cream sandwich for other reasons (smart actions, etc.) but I'm hip on this new Turbo. The credentials from what I see blow anything away out there, including the copycat iphones who are just now catching up with 2yr old android tech. Add what looks to be the best android/moto camera ever with perhaps the software and cpu to support it, I don't see anything that can compete if the specs hold true (esp the battery). Someone above was right though...it's gotta have AT LEAST 32G mem to support the beast. How much does one 4k movie weigh? Dang!!! Please don't disappoint us Moto!!!

I get that. Honestly, I already use the cloud for a lot of stuff, which is how I understand it's not a good solution. 1) People don't always have connectivity to make use of the cloud and 2) people don't have unlimited data anymore. Now I could see Verizon liking reason number 2, but even they have to see number 1 is a problem.

And the whole "not everyone needs a ton of GBs" argument is a bit silly. This isn't meant to be some niche phone. It's part of Verizon's premiere line, so it's supposed to appeal to a large number of Verizon's customers not just the people who don't have much on their phones.

I agree, I wish there was a sd slot but not a deal breaker for me. I hate the cloud idea and have not/will not use it until there is no other alt. Verizon likes it whether your connected or not because eventually you will be, and the crap that's backed up to sync to the cloud will eventually move, either way they make money on cloud space and data. Don't trust the security of cloud either. I can get by with 32 since I don't listen to a lot of music (mostly Pandora) and I don't keep many apps that drain resources either. For me it's the battery life, speed, camera, vids, watchespn, call quality, contact mgmt., calendar, etc. I would just keep my RMHD if it had 3G ram and a quadcore cpu. It's really slow now and I'm out of contract, so here I go!!
