Who has an official 2.3.4 firmware update via Kies?

UK Orange monthly contract

PDA:KG3 / PHONE:KG2 / CSC:KG3 (ORA)

Andriod 2.3.3

I couldn't be bothered to wait so just updated to 2.3.4 myself using the firmware from the xda forum. Battery life is definitely improved :)

Is it XXKH3? Did it wipe your phone?

I ask so because i do not want to go through the pain of re-installing my apps.
Titaniium backup might be amazing but afaik it only works on rooted device?
Also I don't want to root as it may void my warranty.

Thanks & regards,
Darshan

No it doesnt wipe anything apart from carrier-specific bloatware. I'm on Orange so I had to download Orange Wednesdays and Your Account from the market. I never used the others Orange stuff, so these 2 were all I had to set up again.

Brilliant. that gives me more confidence to use ODIN and the XDA firmware.

Not worried about the carrier specific bloatware too, as i am on generic CSC at the moment. Nothing to lose here ;)

Thanks for the reply mate.

Cheers,

i used my backup pro to restore back my apps and data after the firmware upgrade using odin.

Worth taking a backup every so often anyway

My battery life is great now! User to get through a day anyway but now its even better.

This thread was only for people who have had the official firmware via KIES, there are tons of other threads for you to discuss doing it via Odin.

The irony is that the US carrier branded GSIIs are being launched with 2.3.4 and for those who don't know, US carrier branded phones are normally the last phones on this planet to get "official" updates.

One of the reasons I chose a galaxy s 2 over the sensation was because I had a desire and it didnt get updated and the galaxy still gets up updates now. Yet the sensation is in front of the s 2, how can the uk be one of the last countrys to get it.

Having never had a Samsung I am beginning to see an issue with slowness of updates, I can't blame the carriers as I am using an unlocked handset, Ice Cream sandwich is out next month, it'll be about a year before if gets out length.

Just want to post that I upgraded to KI4 today and reset my default APN on AT&T and got the correct 4G APN by default, as opposed to having to manually enter it (used to get one labeled Cingular 410.) Nice bonus. Unbranded, unlocked UK GS2 here in the US.

Still no 2.3.4 here :( Got an unbranded version with no carrier.

I hate how long this takes!
