Who has an official 2.3.4 firmware update via Kies?

I am happy to say it has arrived for me in the UK this evening, am on Orange and the update is to PDA:KH2 Phone:KH1 CSC:KH2 :D

I know I'm confused about how the releases work too. I would have thought that the UK carriers would get the unbranded UK versions to modify. Yet the unbranded UK version isn't officially out yet.
 
Samsung are rubbish, I left HTC because of their lack of upgrades to the Desire. Will now leave Samsung for the same reason.:mad:
 
I'm on Orange and have no updates available. Which is strange, I'm sure there was an update showing on the old Kies, but now that I've updated Kies it's saying there is no updates.
 
Orange UK - getting the KH2 update from the new Kies that came out a few days ago.

Well I'm a tool - KH2 is still 2.3.3 Sorry people,

That's pointless though as it's more so the carriers fault. They test it put rubbish on it etc and release it when they want

Have you ever thought that the fault could be yours? Expecting too much too fast. NONE of them spit out upgrades as fast as we (you) would like.:p

No the fault is not mine, my Galaxy is sim free so expect update before branded Galaxy's. This is their flagship device and now they are starting to release 2.3.5 before most of their users have 2.3.4. To me THAT is crap service!:mad:
 
2.3.4 and 2.3.5 dont offer too much from what I've read. I'd rather they keep tweaking the samsung stuff first than implement the latest greatest android OS.

Also why should Samsung and carries be rushing to update when ICS is only a few weeks away potentially.
 
Kies updated my SG2 to 2.3.4 last night after Kies did an update. I am on AT&T with an unbranded SG2. Noticed that reception is way better after the update but do not know how that could be.
 
That reminds me, does the root/odin route install with the same GS2 TouchWiz UI, just without all the carrier rubbish?

I'm not sure I can hang on any longer so I'm seriously considering doing this. I'm more worried about screwing it up and bricking my phone.

theres loads of guides around - I used samfireware - never done it before. Its easy. Also did my other halfs galaxy mini - then she lost it grrrr

Yeah I'm probably going to do it over the weekend. Do you know about the Samsung UI though? I've grown quite fond of it. Especially in place of HTC Sense.
