Well the OnePlus One is official. The specs (snapdragon 801, 3GB of RAM), price ($299-349), software (specially crafted cyanogenmod 11s), and availability (mid May) are known.

All thats left to ask is... who will be buying one of these when they come out?

I don't know what to feel right now. I mean that price for the 64GB is unheard of! My only problem is the fact that the phone is taller than the Note 3 but with a smaller screen lol. That bottom bezel bothers me. I know its for the capacative buttons but I'm a virtual button type of guy. So that means I have to deal with that damn bezel lol. I love large screened phones but not the ones with wasted bezel. I'm still thinking about it but it looks like the G3 and whatever moto is doing is looking more and more of a better option for me.

What wasted bezels? If you're a capacitative buttons kind of guy, they give you back 1/4" of your screen ;) Even so, there is about that much bezel at the bottom of my Nexus 5.

I'm thinking of doing black 64GB, but not sure of which back cover I like yet.

So, Rxpert83... are you going to answer your own question? :)

Just interested in hearing who will be getting this. ;)

I'm on Sprint, which from the looks of it is not going to be a supported US carrier. Coupled with my <6mo old nexus 5 and I'm content to watch this from the sidelines.

So I won't be getting this phone, but I'll still be following this forum to get a feel of OnePlus as a company to consider their furure products going forward

To me its wasted because I don't care or want capacative buttons. Those that do, good for them. It's just too tall for a 5.5 inch screen. I really wanted to like this device but I'm just a little disappointed. Who knows I might change my mind. The great thing about Android is there's choices. And yes, for that price....definitely the black 64gb.

I'm happy about the phone, but for me the size puts it out of my comfort zone, and it's supposed to be KitKat and no external SD support. So as good as those specs look, and the price for the 64, I probably will pass. Maybe not, though. It certainly sounds like a great buy. But 5.5 inches is very big for a phone.

With a cyanogenmod ROM, I'd be very surprised if it ships with anything less than 4.4.2 kitkat (or 4.4.3 if its out by then)

Its also likely it'll get some pretty fast updates when the next version is released in the coming months.

I really like that they at least gave people the option.

I'd probably use the capacitive buttons in order to not lose screen real estate.

Too big.
Too heavy.
No wireless charging.
1st product from a new company.

Tempting for sure, but I gotta pass. Maybe the next Nexus will pry my trusty Nexus 4 outta my sweaty hands.

I'm definitely in the market for a new phone, and the price is right, especially given that carrier subsidised phones are unavailable to me. How easy will it be to be able to buy it around June time, will I still need an invite or whatever? I do have the options of UK, HK or mainland though.

Still sticking with Verizon for now, so it's a no go. Have a Moto G to test out T-Mo and like it for a backup but don't need anything now. Any new tech money in the near future will probably go towards a laptop/Chromebook.
Phone does look really sweet though, just a little skeptical about the brand.

If and when it becomes available for Ting (CDMA network), maybe. I like the specs, love the pricing. Don't like that it doesn't have external SD although with 64GB I could probably comfortably live with that.

Not having a replaceable battery is almost a deal breaker though. I just replaced the battery in my Galaxy S3 for $15 and anticipate at least another year before really feeling the "I need a better phone" blues. The fact is that I could do this without replacing the phone or having to have it serviced almost guarantees my next phone is going to be a Samsung.

Still who knows, if comes to Ting or my wife convinces me to switch services - well it is probably my lead choice for my next phone (presuming the reviews are good).

The bottom bezel of my Nexus 5 is just as big as the bottom bezel of my Galaxy S4, but with no capacitative buttons. Is that space being wasted? The bottom bezel of the 1+1 is being used for more than just the capacitative buttons, such as the JBL stereo speakers.

The G3 is going to be double the money though.

LG and moto can do it....just saying.

That assumes off contract pricing, which unfortunately is still not the case for many (most?) US customers.

The one plus likely won't be available through carriers, so it will be more expensive than buying an on contract device for some.

I'm not at all convinced that on-contact phones are cheaper in the long run. No carrier is going to lose money subsidizing a phone for 24 months.

I suspect the One will do much better outside of the US, i.e. in markets where off contract pricing is the norm. AFAICT top of the range Samsungs etc. are much cheaper in the US, because of heavy subsidies from the likes of Verizon and AT&T.
