They are casting a big shadow on already problematic and inferior Android platform, by running it on badly designed and flawed hardware. I am not reach enough to buy cheap.
iPhone is nice if you can afford one or are lucky enough to get it on subsidised contract. Here the 5S is equivalent of $1,000 USD, which IMO is a heck of a lot of money for a mobile phone, and I cant really justify that kind of expense. It's in the realm of Gucci handbag pricing, along with the prestige and perceived cachet that goes with luxury products. So I buy the inferior Chinese phones, knowing the software is flawed and not perfect, and fix it myself with a custom ROM, i.e. CyanogenMod. :thumbup:

Nope. My total crap Chinese phone running the problematic & inferior Android platform is perfect, except that it's not overpriced.
I just ordered LG G2. It's only a bit more expensive than OnePlus One, which you still cannot buy anywhere. In September, there is going to be an array of launches from Apple, Samsung and possibly other vendors, leaving this model forgotten in the dust.

Those releases are not leaving anything in the dust. Apple is a different platform. I doubt many android enthusiasts are switching to that icrap. Samsung is doing the note 4, most of the people who buy that will be owners of previous Note models. The Motorola X+1 won't compare to this phone (check the link)

The screen is smaller, the ram is lower and the processor is slower plus it'll cost $200 more. You want to buy that over the OnePlus, be my guest.
My wife has a LG G2. IMO you chose wrong. Sorry, but you have a smaller display, a weaker front facing camera, less storage as the LG G2 doesn't have a SD card slot (I know that for a fact from my wife) and only tops out at 32 GB of storage. You have less RAM than a OnePlus One, a slightly smaller battery and you paid more, why did you pay more? Gotta support lg's marketing budget and lawsuits and ask that crap. Lastly, good luck getting android L on that G2 in a timely fashion. From what I heard the g2 will get it in "early 2015
G2 has a smaller screen, but is also much smaller phone in every way. It has enough storage for me and I don't need extra slot when there is otg. Front cam does have more megapixels, so you probably meant that when you wrote "better camera". LG has ois on the back cam while oneplus has nothing. Battery size is almost the same, but I don't hear anyone reporting better battery life than on g2. Behind LG is a well known brand, while behind oneplus is - who are they again? Who do you get support from? Who do you return your phone to? And where do you buy it to begin with?
There so many other things that are beyond raw specs and processing power. Chinese too often cram in bunch of high end components into something that often turns out to be totally crappy end result. I still have nexus 4, that beat crap out of any Chinese speced out device in voice quality, radio reception, call reliability and overall system stability. You need a big name behind to take these things for granted.

Who are you gonna get support from at LG??? We all know if you have a problem you're gonna call your carrier not LG. You need to return the phone, again you're gonna return it to the carrier. You're now carrier locked. You need your android L update, LG will develop it and whatever carrier you have will add all their bloat and fiddle with it for a few months and you'll be left behind. I've owned LG android, that giant of a company doesn't care about you as an individual. You need service you'll be talking to someone in Korea or the Philippines just like I China so what are you saying about location. As to your question about my support, I'll say it again: I've been emailed 3 times by ACTUAL employees of the company in response to any questions I've had.
Say what you want about my hardware but do yourself the service of checking reviews first because you'll see you're wrong. The phone runs flawlessly. If you need less storage that's fine and I'm happy for you.
I still don't understand why you OVER PAID the cost of the 1+1 for a 2013 flagship when you yourself said new products are coming. You yourself said you overpaid the cost of this phone which was made THIS YEAR and competes on a level of phones with specs from THIS YEAR
I am in eu. There are no carrier phones most of the time, so I get support from the shop and vendor. I did not take this year LG flagship because it has qhd screen which I don't need and only puts burden on the gpu.

I spoke to soon. I just noticed that site I ordered from is in China, so I canceled the order as the final price would be 21% higher. This also means that real price for this phone in eu is around 400eur. That is now only 50eur less than for g3, which I can buy around the corner. 350$ is promotional price for which you need to work your ass off and hope you will get an invite afterwards.

I don't get the work your ass off statement. I signed up on their forum and I was around the 58,000 member to do so. That got me an invite weeks ago. If that's "working your ass off," I feel bad for your employer. I received an invite from a member on these forums just by asking when the member offered. I've had 3 invites, used one and gave the other two away.
It's also comical that you state the phone won't be available to the masses until it's outdated after purchasing an "outdated" g2.
I also received an invite without "working my a** off". I signed up on the forum as a new member, made a post or two and got an invite from OnePlus.
I suppose I was lucky.

And like the others said I definitely didn't work my butt off for this phone. I decided I was buying a new phone 3 weeks ago. Narrowed it down to the OPO or nexus 5 as my main thing is software updates. When android L was announced I didn't want to be left behind. I asked some people at androidcentral how they liked the phone and if the would recommend it. Told them I was gonna get one from oppomart, one member felt me going to oppomart would be such a mistake he sent me a invite. I literally didn't even ask for a invite and got one. No work except one post in a forum. But I admittedly got lucky

It also helped that I was one of the 1st 20 members of the OnePlus forums,so,that explains why I got one of the early invites extended to the GP w/o participating in contests/etc.....
IMHO,if you can wait for the opportunity to buy this phone,that's what I'd recommend.
If not,then perhaps another phone that's readily available is your best bet.
However,this interview w/the Director of OnePlus Global sounds promising,taken at face value:

This doesn't sound like a "ONE & DONE" deal to me.
If the waiting game is not an option at this time,I'd get something to tide you over until the next device is released in 2015.
I wouldn't expect the same pricing/feature set,most likely will see a modest price increase on the next edition,but,probably still a better bargain than whatever comparable device(s) the competition has to offer.

The invite system isn't "elitist", it's just a waiting list. You get in line by registering at their website, simple as that. And then there are some extra invites here and there (representing actual stock) and some do luck out with those and with buddy invites. I'm tired of sour grapes making ppl say silly things about Oneplus. They're a new company and can only make so many phones at a time. If that's not good enough, stick with the established companies who can afford all the stock and extra services.

I will offer a caution to those considering a OnePlus One phone.
While this model has largely received rave reviews, buying one is a bit of a gamble. Many of us at work are serious, experienced Android enthusiasts. Currently there's ten of us that own OnePlus One models.
Of those ten, only six worked properly upon unboxing and first use. If yours works out of the box theirs a chance you have a good one, or if your luck runs like mine it'll work for a short period before having problems. Which in my case has rendered my phone useless since it can't be charged.
Ten days ago I sent an email to OnePlus, to date I've not heard from them. If this was my only phone this would be a much bigger problem. Fortunately I have other new Android phones to rely on therefore I can wait.
My experience is not unique, as others at work have experienced delays, although only about eight days before hearing back. The one completed warranty repair consumed twenty eight days from start to the time it was returned to it's owner for use.
If you can live with this type of gamble and potential delay without the phone, then you'll likely enjoy the OPO.
Please notice I've not said anything negative against OnePlus, I've simply reported the experiences of my friends and I.

This is what I am talking about. Large phone vendors charge more for a reason. There is no such thing as a free lunch. You end up paying the difference in price sooner or later, but quite often even more. I owned 4 Chinese phones and 3 tablets. Each and every one had serious issues and there was no support in sight.
Large vendors maybe pay more for advertising, but are also getting components for less price cos they are buying much higher quantities than some small start-ups. To get such a low price with these specs, startups must cut some serious corners, and this is going to be charged on consumers, sooner or later.
None of the reviewers are able to test reliability and durability if the phones. Do you know where one plus is sourcing batteries from? Batteries in my cube gt2 died after three months of very light use. Are you safe to leave them on the charger at night?

All devices (built in the last couple of years or so) should be safe to leave on the charger.

As for larger mfgs being more responsive/timely in honoring warranties, YMWV, & you almost always only hear about the negative/worse-case scenarios/horror stories in forums such as here & elsewhere.
I'd guess OnePlus' batting average is within the same range as any other mfg.

Fair enough. I should not have used the term Chinese in this bad context, there are very good Chinese/Korean brands like Lenovo, Huawei, LG and Samsung. They all work in the same environment, and yet they are somehow unable to produce the phone with 1+ specs and price. I feel we are yet to see which corners 1+ has been cutting.
I bought G2 and I am impressed with it so far. For a higher price, I could have bought OnePlus One from www.******.fr, but I did not. With customs duty insurance and shipping to Belgium, it costs 360EUR. You can get Xiaomi MI4 for 10 eur more, which is much better choice imho. At least you'd have a big name behind it, though the EU warranty is probably an open question.

And when I bought some books, clothes and shoes in the United Kingdom during the summer, it all had a homecoming. LOL

There's so much 1+1 warnings and bashing, come on it's an adventure with a brand new company and phone! I am skeptical about 4 out of 10 phones being defective. I will be extremely surprised if mine is but I already factored in the possibility when I decided to purchase.
