I am not gonna consider leaving my DROID behind for a cheap second rate phone, even if it is given to me.

Right now, the DROID represent the pinnacle of the Android-based phones b/c of its sheer power and as-yet untapped abilities (FM Radio, native USB, etc.)

Negative. I don't care how good a phone is, it just isn't worth having to to take it to VZ every single day when it melts down on me. That phone would be the equivalent of pushing every single button on your droid more than 10000 times per second for me. That's just asking for trouble.

;)

But, I don't think a phone like that would ever be sold in this state anyway. 60% of the people here wouldn't even be able to think long and hard enough to make it power up.

lmao are you trying to tell me there are states with a higher percentage of the population possessing an IQ that is sub-50 than there are in Maine?

... I never thought I'd see the day. Of course, then again, GA is where "Deliverance" was set. haha.

Don't want to shell out the non-discounted price for a new phone, when I've only had my Droid for a few months. Also switching phones would make my desk dock and car dock useless.

Two words: Newt Gingrich. 'Nuff sed.

Hmm, I must be in the wrong place then, cause I'm not an iPhone user! ;)

Stupid people - can't live with them, can't shoot 'em....

Good point lol - I use my NE2 on the DROID on D-Day, so I'll have to wait at least another 7 months or so, right? lol

Not a fan of HTC so I will wait to see what Motorola comes up with to compete. But that could easily be several months to a year from now and I'm in no hurry to ditch my Droid. It's rooted, overclocked and kicks all kinds of ass IMO.

That is more of a personal opinion. If you want to use apps that require a keyboard (like terminal emulator) then what do you do? Also I don't like the non tactile feel of a flat screen when I'm typing, it is much harder to memorize the layout. Have you noticed when you use the virtual keyboard it takes up a ton of extra space? That is another downside. And the biggest problem for me is I have oily skin, so when I type on screen I get tons of fingerprints. Yea I know that will still happen since it is a touch controlled phone/UI but you get a lot more smudges/smears when your only choice is to type on the screen.

Keyboards will never be outdated, there will always be a user base for them just like there is one for touch only.

That's a bad thing. That's called splintering and is one of the main issues of the Android Platform. Everyone should be able to use all apps, keyboard or no keyboard.

No one in this state is an iPhone user, either. AT&T tried to push into the state, but the discussions ended with an irate mainer standing up and screaming "What do you mean, you don't love sheep????"

AT&T hasn't been heard from since.

(Did I mention yet this week that I hated it here? Just thought I'd ask.)

Well this is up to the developer of the app to enable the software keyboard, not Google. And Android has so much fragmentation not because of Google but because of phone manufacturers who choose to use older builds instead of 2.0.1/2.1. They are both available to freely use yet most companies seem to choose 1.6. You can't blame Google for this or Android, if you want to see how Google does things then get a Nexus One and see how often they update it (very often).

Droid seems to make the most sense, because I feel I need a keyboard over the N1.

How do you, like the Droid keyboard? Compared to the G1 and Moment, the Droid keyboard is too smooth for fast typing it seems. Are you getting used to it?

I have started using the screen keyboard to see if I can make the switch to a Nexus 1, but thinking Droid may still be the safest bet.

What you think?

Maybe I should still wait to see what is coming for new android phones?

Thanks!

IMO the G1 keyboard is THE BEST keyboard on a phone ever. I could type so fast on it. The Droid isn't nearly as good but it does work well especially once you get use to it. But I still prefer the Droid's keyboard a million times more then any virtual keyboard.

Probably Nexus One. I thought the physical keyboard was a must, but I hardly ever use it.

I want the faster, zippier processor.

But I love the Droid's beautiful screen. It really is a work of art. I will look at the N1 screen, and if it looks good enough, I may switch.

I'll stay with the Droid unless the Nexus 2 is too bad ass to pass up and is on VZW. I don't keep the same phone for a whole 2 years though, so who knows what I'll do.

I love the Droid though, and like that it actually has a slide out keyboard. I do have to admit though, since I got the new swype beta, I don't use it unless I'm in Terminal Emulator doing stuff. It's still very nice to have.

Yea like most I will keep my droid. Unless a phone that is superior to the Droid and has a physical keyboard comes out, the Droid is my #1 device.

I love my Droid so i'll be sticking with it, but i have had a secret crush on the N1 since release day lol if i had the chance i would probably buy one just for fun. Or make my girlfriend buy one and then do all the fun stuff on it when shes not looking haha. Oh, and i dont know about the developer community for the N1, but i love the community of developers for the Droid.

Could not have said it better myself...may just buy the N1 for fun! :)

now that we know the specs of the incredible and the reviews of it are out, Im curious to see what the perspective of droid users is now.

I personally cant discount the speed of the incredible, the superior touch screen, the camera... the htc sense is cool too. not sure if there is something comparable to the sense for the droid.

Ideally maybe. In the real world, much of my software a and even some hardware had been rendered obsolete with an os upgrade. My All In Wonder cards were useless when I went from XP to Vista. Musicmatch, Norton, Nero, all useless only a few months after i purchased them, unless I wanted to purchase new software or hardware. This is no different.

Whole argument is just bullshit rhetoric.
