Who's passing on Thunderbolt and waiting for something else?

1. Buy TBolt on 1yr contract
2. 1 yr from now if I need another phone I buy it on another 1yr deal
3. Sell Tbolt for $250

So basically a year from now I keep TBolt or get the next new shiny deal for free. Great deal.

Only negative on TBolt is battery and speaker sucks. Other than that phone is amazing and we get unlimited 4G.

I've decided to wait for the Bionic. I have the Evo, and I know these battery issues will continue to be a problem. Why in the world they put a smaller battery than the Evo is flat out insane. The Bionic battery is huge. I really like my HTC Evo device and build quality, and would want another HTC, but i'll give Motorola a try.

I'm waiting for the HTC Merge. I really want something from HTC with a full slider QWERTY without having to go with Sprint. HATE SPRINT.

I see a lot of people saying that the build quality is better with the Droid X. To each their own...but if you have never picked up a Droid X or Thunderbolt...go to the store and look for yourself. This is certainly not a blanket statement from all the T-Bolt owners.

The DX has that horrendous camera hump (really...that's God awful!). The Atrix is a preview of what's to come from Motorola and the Bionic...and that is a very plasticy build. While the T-Bolt has a plastic battery door, it's definitely not a plasticy device. Build quality is impressive.

I have to disagree man...I love the Atrix! To me it feels awesome in the hand, and completely solid! And when u take into consideration how thin it is, and it has a 1850mAh battery under the hood powering that dual core, and beautiful QHD display! I gotta say, the phone is pretty bananas! Its my favorite device out right now...however, at&t flat out suxxxxx, they're 4G is non existed, and this phone is not even using full 3G because of caps..plain stupid!

However, different strokes for different folks! I for one can't wait for the Bionic, I think it's gonna be a sick phone! At this point nothing that HTC puts out will interest me, not until they start paying attention to peoples needs to get through a full day with a decent battery! I would love to know what genius at HTC decided to put a 1400mAh battery in the TB, when the original EVO had a 1500...especially with the thought that the EVO's battery life was terrible.

I will likely pass on the TB.

I'm definitely waiting to see whats announced at CTIA next week. If all rumors cone true I am likely waiting for the Evo 3D. If even half the rumored specs come true ill be looking to buy on release date for Evo. I'm guessing that this will give Verizon roughly till mid summer to announce a handset to compete and have a shot to keep my business.

Just my .02 but its disappointing to see Verizon bring out a handset from HTC and then likely see that same phone crushed in every category less then a week later by another HTC handset.

I'm absolutely interested in the Bionic too. One thing I LOVE about my X is the impeccable build quality and the battery life. Moto has these two areas nailed down. I'm using the 1930mah extended battery and I can easily get over 24 hours of heavy use out of it, and it only added 1mm of thickness to the back of the phone...it still looks stock. I'm sure people will take exception, but it appears to me that HTC rushed this phone out to Verizon just to be the first one utilizing LTE. It's nothing groundbreaking otherwise. Let's hope Moto really puts out a good product with the Bionic. I'd certainly prefer to stay with Verizon but Sprint and other carries have some tempting phone selections coming up which will make for a difficult decision.
I have to agree here with this. Moto has long been known as the reception king and the X is no different. Call quality is fantastic, loud and clear. Battery life on the X is really good too.

I like sense, but not enough to deal with all these battery issues. I am eligible for an upgrade now, will also be adding a line for my son. I had high expectations for the TB. So, will be waiting for the big B from Moto. Not a fan at all of Blur, have no desire to root, but if what the previews say is true, battery life will not be an issue.

I also like what I am hearing about the new iPhone. It definitely needs a 4" display. 4G would be nice too, but it's not a deal breaker, yet.

If Moto can build a solid 4.3" display, with above average battery life, reception and call quality, why can't HTC do the same?

What battery issues? My battery life is just fine

I guess I may be in the minority but this far battery life has been a non issue with my TB. I easily get thru the day with some to spare & that's with moderate to heavy use...downloading apps, playing games & browsing the net periodically! I upgraded from the og Droid and my TB battery life is just as good or better! My sister has the Droid x & my TB blows it out of the water in every way. Much better build quality imo, way faster, blur is awful & the new sense is really sweet, no random lags like on my og Droid and sisters x, downloads are way faster even on 3g & WiFi not to mention the ridiculous speeds I am getting on 4G LTE. Don't let small complaints get u worried the TB was well worth the wait...& to the dual-core argument, my TB has been out performing my buddies atrix in every way imaginable we have done the comparisons side by side the TB is even getting the edge in the gaming department as surprising as that is! So like I said if u get it don't worry u won't be disappointed

Why is everyone so butt hurt over dam battery life seriously?I've had mine off charged since 8am and barely under 90% tho I'm hardly using but I've been uploadin music and stuff like that all day.

lol I believe 3 of those 4 threads are people who refuse to turn off gps and data when not in use.

my battery just died at 31 hours on 4:30 awake

sorry but that is plenty enough battery for me, and should be for anyone else who is using this PHONE as a PHONE.

@Garnto

As a phone? Your kidding me right! Its called a smart phone for a reason! Mostly all of these arguments are people saying that HTC had no business putting a 1400mAh battery in a SMART PHONE with a 4'3 inch screen, SLCD display, and LTE 4G...seriously this phone should have shipped with nothing less then a 1600mAh battery! Its a joke and it needs to be addressed ASAP! You know why, because HTC is going to loose customers over something like this...If moto can ship with big stock batteries, well then so can HTC!

Just curious if you folks claiming the Bionic will have great battery life, fewer build issues, and will run circles around the TB have actually visited the Atrix forum. They have the same complaints about that phone people here are using to justify waiting or returning the TB. Interesting, huh?

I'm sure the Bionic will be a good phone, but it will have issues as well based on what we've seen with the Atrix. I wonder if those singing MOTO praises will admit to that or just ignore it. Again, the point I'm making here is that none of these phones are really heads and shoulders above the others in the areas I mentioned.

In my mind the decision comes down to features, manufacturer preference, and flexibility of the phone. I got my TB on a one year contract with the expectation that I'd upgrade to the first dual core HTC phone VZW releases (cause I prefer HTC products over other manufacturers) but that's not set in stone. I may actually wait longer than that. I think technology is really hitting a brick wall. Until Android phone makers can really significantly improve battery life, I'm talking blackberry style battery life, I may just hold on to the TB for two years.

Btw battery life has been a non issue for me.

I love HTC, Sense, and Verizon (at least more than other carriers)
Do not like Motorola and Blur even less.

I have two lines for one year contracts and I always pass my phone to the other line (wife) so every six to ten months one is ready for upgrade.

Conclusion is that I am able to update almost any time I want. :D

I have the Atrix, and I'm getting roughly 15 hours out of it. And that's with very heavy usage! If the Bionic gives me 12 hours on 4G i'll be very happy.

I bought the TBolt on a 1-year contract. By the time my year is up next March, LTE, NFC Payments, and multi-core processors would have hit primetime with the software to take advantage of them.

Also remember, there'll always be a "latest and greatest" phone just beyond the horizon. When the Bionic is released, the next crop of phones would have been announced. What if...

I'm waiting to see what else comes out too. Had an Evo, then switched to a Droid X. Also picked up an Evo shift not too long ago. The battery life on the Evo and X is very poor. The Shift's battery life is much better. And the reason I have both Sprint & Verizon is cause I travel a lot and always need signal. Right now where I'm at, Sprint has 4 bars and Verizon has 1.

Well anyway, I see the TB as an Evo with just some slight improvements. Not knocking it, but it's not enough to get me to buy it now. I'd rather have them put in a decent battery and a 16gb card as a compromise.

In my case, wimax speed has been pretty good where I've used it so far(Salt Lake, Vegas and Chicago), and I've been getting 8-10mbps on downloads. That will keep me happy for now. 2 big questions I have is what else besides Bionic is coming 4g-wise and how much does Verizon intend to raise the price on lte phone plans in the summer?

Im waiting for:

Qualcomm MSM8960 (dual core 28nm processor)
4" qHD screen (non pentile matrix)
1 gb ram
8-16 gb internal storage
1600 mah or better battery (wishful)

The first three are pretty mandatory for my next device.

Thunderbolt gave me a clear reason to finally let go of sprint because of the amazing 4g LTE speeds. They just were not any better for me where I live and would use it the most. I have to agree with other posts here that the TB is a clear improvement over the EVO, just not night and day by any means. It is built well, has a better screen and is faster. Anyone wanting this phone I highly recommend it. If LTE gets better in my area that will be the time for me. Just not right now. Sprints 4G although much slower, it works ok in my area. Sprint is like a marriage I find reasons to stick with. Damnit!!! The EVO 3d might give me reason to stick it out... It's been great reading all the posts in this forum for the TB, but will be back with the EVO 3D! Thanks to all for the input and helpful tips!

VZW bragging rights for hardware will be very shortlived: Yes, VZW network is better, but only pure brainwashed fanboys will say the TB is better. I would rather have waited for the Thunderbolt to be like the new EVO. No harm no foul for me, since not 4G anyway.

New rumors surrounding the HTC EVO 3D are further confirming that benchmark entries on the OpenGL site filed under the HTC Shooter codename should belong to the upcoming handset for Sprint. The details passed along to BGR claim a 960
