Root Whos using Data++ ROM's?

going back to this symlinking, its not required as it can use data for cache using this script which is in redux anyway:

Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#
# bind mount /data/local/download to /cache/download if cache
# partition is too small
#

CACHESIZE=$(df -k /cache | tail -n1 | tr -s ' ' | cut -d ' ' -f2)
if [ $CACHESIZE -lt 20000 ]
then
  mount -o bind /data/local/download /cache/download
fi

exit 0

It looks if cache is too small. If so, it uses spare space in data.

Using this, I can have 75 system, 3 cache, 360 data.

3 is the smallest custom MTD will allow for everything to still function through much testing

I have 108 apps, 106MB of data left. Nothing on EXT what so ever. Everything running from nand (dalvik, apps etc).

What I could do is use the "move to sd" option as per stock roms and save a whole lot opf space that way (may test that later).

This may be a good solution for me.

I used to believe games used /cache too. But this doesn't seem to be the case. With 3MB cache (and only downloads going to /data) NFS shift runs like a dream....

Interesting.

Did you notice any difference in speed? Ah I forgot, you already have a blazing fast class 10 card, no difference there to nand I guess?

So, I had some time today and decided to S-OFF my phone (running GV v2.0).
Twice it got suck on step 3 and didn't go any further... :confused:

Then I remembered reading somewhere that some custom ROMs have issues with S-OFF. So, I've flashed Redux on it from recovery, and got the procedure completed. Then restored GV nandroid backup over it. Now it is S-OFF with GV.

Bottom line - if you are on GV and want to S-OFF, you'd better load another ROM on it first! :)

I did s-off when on GV :)

I am S-OFFed alpharev. I did flash the custom boot but the message ran too quickly for me to see the output.

So what does it say when you boot into recovery via. power+volume down? it should say CM7 HBOOT or something like that

That's good to know. Was wondering whether Redux (and other AOSP ROMs) would have something similar to the ram-disk solution employed by Baadnewz. Didn't think about potential cache size issues running CM or Oxygen hboots, just assumed they'd be ok if mentioned in ROM threads.

So customMTD with minimal cache works with Redux - does anyone know if MIUI has a similar solution?

Its just the same script used in diferent roms. Gingervillain it didnt work in but other AOSP it has done.

See teh toolbox thread. Look for the scripts download and remove the other scripts. This script is 06mountdl
