Why do some apps not show up in the manage apps area?

I do not recall one of my apps (Places) ever being there before and its not in the manage app area so i can delete it. Does anyone else have this app?

Try clicking on the "all" tab

Places is part of google maps.

You can try appbrain for better managing your apps.

The "Places" icon is just an extension of Google Maps. It came with the 4.4 update. So once you updated and soft reset your phone, it was placed there automatically. I wouldn't delete it if I were you, as this may mess up your phone or the Google Maps app. Not 100% sure though.
