Help Why does my 'vail think I live in Chi-town ?

Okay, so another noob question...

I go to run speedtest app on my phone, and it says the closest server is in Chicago... when I live in Lexington,ky... Same thing when tethered on the laptop... Do you guys know of a fix for this ? maybe this is why my download speed is below .3 kbps.

Rooted GB. (Phone-SPHM820_EJ06-CWM5-Rooted.tar)

Any info would be great,

It's not necessarily that your phone thinks that you live in Chicago. I live in Asheville N.C. and my speed test routes me through Atlanta. It's probably looking for the server with the most traffic to be able to get the most accurate results.
 
At least yours is in the united states. Mine went about 1,000 miles away in Mexico. Does the distance effect the results? Fwiw you can select the location you want to use manually

Physical distance will have an effect on both ping times as well as data throughput.

It is most affected by how many physical machines it must pass through befroe it reaches it's destination.

I'm no expert, but they may define a server that is a specific number of 'hops' away for their speed test. That would produce a much more realistic average of what your speeds would be like overall
