Help Why does the default email program constantly run?

I use the defaul email program that came with the phone and I think there was a recent update that is making it drain my battery. I noticed that the email program constantly runs and eats up my CPU. The program is red in my task manager and it is killing my battery. The only way I can stop it is to go into the task manager and kill it. I have the sync turned off.

Anyone know why? I really liked the program, but I don't want to have to go into the task manager to kill it everytime I open it..

Just because the program is in memory does not mean it is using any more battery.

That's not the way Android programs work. Android apps are in memory in case you need them. Just because they're in memory has no effect on battery. Only if they're actively pulling data, will they be using battery.

I wouldn't worry about it unless there is abnormal battery drain. If so, then I would recommend a root and then try the CleanGB ROM.
