its always at least 29% and goes up to 60% WTH? i understand this was an issue before buti thought it was fixed. it started after i flashed the blitzkrieg rom

i dont have latitude and gps and mobile networks are disabled.

um getting very pissed

There are a few bugs I think that need to be worked out.. MT doesn't have a live phone to test the rom. It's done by the community, if you backed your original rom via cwm lime mt mentioned you can restore the original rom and wait for the break out Rom to be updated.

id rather keep his. but is anyone having a similar issue? maybe on stock as well?

could it be because i chages my lcd density?

I noticed my Maps was using 70% Battery last night,
Froze it, on Titanium Backup, noticed % Started going down.

wow what is tied to google maps that would do that? is there a way to quickly freeze and defrost it? like on homescreen maybe?

I dont think you are able to do that. But Ive noticed ever since I froze it (monitored it for about 10 min.) Defrosted it and ever since then I haven't noticed Maps come up on battery use unless I use it, and when I do see it on the using Battery, its at a low %.

How'd you fix the keyboard?

Yes, please share.

I sometimes see maps taking up a lot of battery right after a reboot. I kill it and that solves it. I am on rooted stock ZV8 with most bloat removed.

SwiftKey 3 official release version seems to be handling battery use better than most other keyboards I tried, but still not what I would expect.

You've solved it partially. I switched to ZVA, which fixed overheating. I use Swiftkey. It uses 2% battery.

I have not been on here all that much lately, but doesn't that update remove the ability to tether? If so then I might have to wait.

ZV9/ZVA remove the ability to root.
If you have updated, check the ROM thread stickied in the ATR section. I'll have all versions that are missing up within 24-48 hours. Net's being funky tonight.

I have zv9 and tether works just fine using the tether application from the broken out rom on stock rooted .

Wait.....you mean rooting is impossible on zva or zv9? I thought the only thing that didn't work on the newest firmware is tethering. I just ordered this phone and the first thing I was going to do was upgrade to zva for the overheating issue and such. Plus I thought there were a bunch of ppl here running ZVA rooted??? Am I wrong?

I am rooted. I used the same application for tether on stock zv9 rooted as the broken out rom uses

This may be a dumb question for you guys, but do you keep your GPS antenna on?? If so, then Maps will be CONSTANTLY updating your position and caching map tiles, which drains MUCH more than just it running in the background

AND even if your not, it might be constantly caching anyway, go into settings and make sure the "cache tiles" setting is on WiFi only or something similar. This always has helped tame maps for me.

What I did that helped even MORE though, was use the new feature and downloaded a HUGE (72Mb) map of my entire area so that way it will never have to cache any tiles as long as I dont leave the 100sqmile or so area I downloaded. TOTALLY worth it. Im even planning on getting a couple more of all the areas I would ever possibly visit in the near future so I dont need network access to find my way. Hope this helps, cuz my maps is down to like .5% or something : )

I just downloaded the new update for maps. And I didn't know about the caching tiles. I'm turning that to wifi, and doing what you did and downloading a big a$$ area of where I go. Thanks for the tip!

If you want your maps to stop running in the background u can use rom tool box, first page is tools scroll down to auto start manager and look for maps tap on it and it will disable maps from running in the background.;)

It's an unreadable glitch. Your phone has something in the background using up battery and it is not an app. I Literally cleared every app off my phone except for basic framework just to get to the issue and it kept saying it was swype (which I didn't have anymore).

Most likely your battery is getting nuked by something in the android 2.3.6 framework itself.

Go to settings\applications \running services. Then stop Google maps services. They'll start up if needed on their own... latitude enabled tends to do that more so. Also clear the data for the Google maps application. It helped me with random reboot problems. Might help your strange CPU usage too.

Actually this probably wont help for a couple of reasons. Maps is one of those programs where its counter productive to use a taskkiller app for. Because Maps will just keep restarting itself every couple of minutes, regardless if its needed or not. And clearing Data only deletes all the tiles that Maps has already cached, which one if you arent using an offline map, means it will just start caching them again, and two, if you have, it will either delete the map you downloaded (Im not sure about that), or again, delete the pre-cached tiles. Either way, it wont help.

yes it's possible with titanium backup. Don't recall off the top of my head exactly but, you create a widget to freeze apps by a filter, select that app from the filters.. Then create a widget to defrost for when you want to use them. I used to use it to freeze apps like Facebook and phandroid which sucked down my memory.. I'm on my phone now so I can't get the link but there is a tutorial in the esteem forums.. Prob been about 6 months though..
