Why powering back on the device take away so much battery life?

So, I didn't find any music on my phone, and decided to take out the SD card, and put it back in. I turned off the phone, it had 41% battery. When I turned it back on, it went alllll the way down to 7% -__-! I guess it makes sense that powering on the device will take away some battery life, but almost all of it?! Thank God I'm home, and not outside and decided to do this, lol. I wouldve been phoneless (not really since I have a spare battery), but you know what I mean.

It shouldn't drop that much. 5% maybe but I rarely even see that much of a drop. Is it your original battery that came with the phone
They do have a "shelf" life

Yeah that's WAY too much. Even when I do a ROM restore or back up it only eats up about 10 to 15 percent. Powering on and off usually eats 3 percent on mine.

Either your battery stats are wack or your battery is wack. If your not rooted and have a custom ROM then it would prolly be the latter then.

I've seen it happen to mine, it went from 40% to 17%. I thought it was just mine but it does it rarely

ya it does that. usually its actually a bug in reading the % and youll see that itll take forever to go down 1% or sometimes youll actually see it go back up haha
