Why So Cheap?

It seems a little unusual that the fastest smartphone in the world would sell for $150 I'm not complaining, its just hard to believe that it isn't priced at around $200. Think about the blackberry bold, iphone 4, and samsung captivate, all were above $200 when they first came out so I'm a bit confused

There is no definite price as of now. The $150 is only based on Amazon and Costco. It could go up to $200. I can see Motorola doing it to directly compete and better the iPhone 4 in terms of phone price.

$200 seems to be the new upper limit for phones of this nature. Just because it's powerful doesn't mean it cost a lot more to build. Motorola will make a buttload on the accessories alone on this phone, plus the $150 or $200 is the subsidized price. Not the retail.

I think if Motorola gets the phone out at AT&T for $200.00 and at 3rd party retailers for $150.00 they are genius. Remember - they don't want to just sell the phone. They want to sell the docks as well - which undoubtedly have huge profit margins built in. I for one plan on getting a charging dock for my nightstand, one for the desk at work, the HD Media dock for the living room, the car dock and the laptop dock. They can sell the phone at a loss and make tons of money on the docks - which I suspect will be huge sellers.

Again - I think Motorola is genius with these docks. The phone is pretty impressive - and if that is all you get - then you are getting much more than you pay for.

I hope we hear something this week about release and pre order dates. With the iPhone4 going on pre order this week - I would think that AT&T would want to get the pricing and availability information out ASAP.

Also keep in mind it only has 16GB internal storage, so people will be comparing it to certain other smartphones with 16GB internal storage...
