Why we still need MicroSD cards

What's (almost) worse than no microSD card? A microSD card that you can't hot-swap!

This reminds me of my OG Evo. Had to remove the battery to take out the sd card.

I don't change SD cards enough for hot swapping to be a big issue.
The phones I've had recently, have always had to remove the battery, so could get at and remove the SD and SIM(s). So hot swapping is just not going to happen on these devices. My current Oppo F7a has a 32GB SD, plus 16GB internal storage. I've probably only removed it two or three times in the year or so I've had it.

Just think yourself lucky you have an SD slot mate! ;)

It's one reason why I chose the F7a, a OnePlus One with 64GB internal would have probably been OK for my uses as well, but that wasn't easily available at the time, not without faffing around, begging and waiting for invites, even in China. Of course can buy all versions OnePlus One directly now and locally. :thumbsupdroid:

Well I scrimped 50qid and bought the 16gb version :(
Don't use it for music though so still have 5gb :)
Just wait til I get it unlocked and rommed and have to store 4gb nandroids on it though lol think I'll be getting an otg cable and thumb drive then :thumbsupdroid:

"Wow, curiouser & curiouser.." - Alice

It's from the Xperia z3+. Whichever brain-dead piece of bottom-dwelling pond life in Sony's design dept. thought this was "A Good Idea" needs taken out behind the bike sheds and beaten to death with a clue hammer.

My point, such as it was, is that Sony's handsets have always, until now, used handy dedicated microSD slots. This strikes me as simply change for change's sake, especially as the M4 has (a) two separate slots and (b) a trayless SIM slot without obvious size penalty.

Bottom line, some people don't have an sd card and you don't always want something plugged in to the bottom of your phone while on the go.

You can just drop this into another pocket.

Clever. Not new, but clever and with the increased size, more effective.

(Not a perfect solution for everyone, it's an imperfect world.)
Wow that is excellent, ive never seen anything like that before. (i may just invest in the 32gb version)
Plus it will save your phone battery (or will it? Does wifi cost more battery than running a USB drive?)

Looks fairly inexpensive like $30 for 32gb.

Wifi connect stick's internal battery lasts about three hours video playback.

I wonder if you can access it wirelessly from your phone at the same time it's plugged into your pc. .
