Why would anyone choose the Nexus S over the EVo or Epic ???

Why would anyone switch or upgrade from an Epic or Evo to the Nexus S ?? I'm curious to hear reasons why, please be short and to the point, like if Gingerbread is the reason what is the big deal about it , google voice why is that so important or the NFC chip, etc.....what makes the Nexus the Greates above other thanks :):):)
 
why would someone switch from the epic? if they prefer the stock android experience and dont like waiting on updates.

why would you switch from the evo? the evo IMO has a screen that makes it just a wee bit bigger then i like. the evo has a 1st gen snapdragon which is pretty shoddy with the battery life and speed, the QSD 8650 in it is old and outdated.. the evo shift has the 2nd gen snapdragon that runs circles around the evo.

the nexus offers speed and power in a nice little google package
 
I can answer this as I am switching to the Nexus from the Evo. Why? Mostly because I am sick of the terrible battery life and waiting forever...and ever for Sprint to update my less than a year old phone. GB has been out for nearly 6 months and 4 versions of it have surfaced and we still sit on 2.2 :rolleyes: No, I dont want to root and ROM, been there and done that with my Hero and never again. I also like the smaller size and lighter weight, not to mention the Evo's display is a joke compared to the super AMOLED display on the Nexus. The camera and video is also much better on the Nexus.
 
Actaully, the front camera on the Nexus is worse than the Evo's. The rear, about the same though. The lens on the Nexus is higher quality, so the photos are a little better quality compared to the Evo, even though it's got a lower MP count. MP aren't everything...

Oh yea, and all the jazz with the Hummingbird CPU/GPU, being more efficient and faster and whatnot. The screen is also sexy, much more so than the Evo. The evo is a slight margin larger, however the contrast is totally washed out in comparison.


As for the 2.3.3 (Hell, any version of 2.3), I root first and ask later. I've had the newest on my Evo since... hell since I got out of boot camp. Doesn't take that long to root and get your phone running like it should: bloat free and cyana-happy.

I had nothing but trouble flashing ROMs on my Hero. Nearly bricked my phone and had a hell of a time getting to where it would function again. Just looked on XDA today at some ROM threads for the Evo and 80% of it are people having problems with things not working correctly. No thanks, I will take my updates from Google :)
 
Ok so here's my question, what is it about Gingerbread that makes it so special above froyo, what features??

Unfortunately, the camera on the Nexus S is pretty mediocre. Really disappointing, combined with the lack of an SD Card slot I really don't know if I can pull the trigger on the Nexus S.

thinner than the evo, some of us like built in 16gb instead of a card, better screen, better housing design (easier to hold in the hand) , doesnt seem as bulky in the hand because of the slightly smaller screen, first to get new android updates etc.
 
Pure Google
No crappy, slow UI's
No waiting for Google updates

If these are good reasons, then the Nexus S is right for you.

I personally regard these as good reasons, but the allure of the Evo3D is strong.

Video is only 480p?! Seriously?! :confused: That's the nail on the coffin for me, if true. Even less-than-stellar smartphones are all recording video at 720p nowadays.

You would really pass on a PHONE because it doesnt shoot HD video? LOL Maybe its because I shoot photos and videos for a living and use pro equipment to do so but I think its beyond silly when people say things like this. To each their own though

yea but seriously!?!?!? everyone knows that you should be able to fit a RED camera in there as well as gps 14tb of onboard storage.. cmon now there is no excuse for samsungs lack of support here.... :rolleyes:

anyways like i said its not hardware why we cant record in hd, its purely software.
 
I have both now and might switch between the two. My reason is its smaller than the EVO and I mostly use my iPad for web surfing and I didn’t want a keyboard on my phone, but still wanted to have the option for 4g.

So it works for me.
 
I had the Evo for a week and the Epic since it launched. I got sick of the keyboard. My wife has had the Evo since it launched, so I have a lot of experience with both. I bought the NS today. I wouldn't say the nexus blows away either phone, but it is great for someone who doesn't like the size or the processor of the Evo, and doesn't use the keyboard on the Epic. Another selling point is that it will have support. Who knows if the Epic will ever get another update.
 
Ifthe epic had been keyboardless I would have gotten it to start with. As it is I will make the switch now.

another update? you mean like the gb build i posted?
 
I've been out of the loop on the epic since early april when I got rid of mine. Support from samsung and sprint (updates) is more what I was talking about, that is cool you got some gb action on it though. I loved my epic, I just saw the nexus s and decided to go for it.
 
Ok so with GB are going to be able to transfer music over the air or directly from a pc just like you can do with windows phone and zune or apple products through Itunes??
