I tried to lock my phone using the security pattern but then I seen 911 and it's so easy to accidently press the 911 button so I had to take it off any other way to lock the htc hero phone. Also how long should the hero battery last I seems to get 5-6 hours most things are off but I use the Internet or last fm for an hour or 2 and the battery is almost halfway done why.

As for the pattern lock screen - idk? I don't use it.
Do some of the tweaks and your battery will last fine. My biggest battery draw is the IM app's. Otherwise, if I don't run those, I get an easy 14 hours with heavy web, games but light text use.
Happy Trails,

there's a couple apps to replace the lock pattern.
However, if you just stay away from that bottom center circle in the lock pattern, it makes it that much more difficult to hit the emergency call button. Although, I use that bottom center circle, and have never hit the emergency call button (except after a few drinks
)
