Hi, i have just copied and pasted this post from the android lounge as i now realise it is better off posted here,Hi, i am new to this forum,we have just had new samsung galaxy s 2 phones and i have a problem with the wi-fi connection. my server is sky.i logged in my sky ssid code which my phone found, when i turn on wi-fi in settings,my phone says authenticating..... > saved, secured with wpa, > authenticating......> authentication problem.Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening, my phone tells me the signal strength is good or fair, and we already use wi_fi at home with our lap top.Any help would be most appreciated, thanks, Mark & Mandy.

Hi Mark and hello to Mandy. :) Welcome to the forums.

I'm really not sure the cause of that problem. What is the model number of your Galaxy S2? Is it a I9100 or ?

The only way I can replicate the issue with my phone is if I do not type the correct passkey and my phone will cycle the connect sequence to the router but will never actually connect because the security key cannot be authenticated.

Here is something to try - go to the wifi networks in the wifi menu - long press on the network your phone is trying to connect and click forget network. After that go down and near the end of the list you should find the network you clicked to forget. Than you want to reinstate it back by pressing connect. At this point you should be asked to type the network key again. Type it carefully and make sure it is the correct one with another device if you can.

Firstly thanks for taking time out to help with our problems, unfortunately it has'nt done the trick, but hopefully we'll get there in the end, regards, Mark.

What security mode do you have on your router?
I usually set it to WEP or WPA.
If you change the security mode, you will have to set up a new key, so make sure you "forget" your router in the GS2 wireless settings and re-scan it to add it again.

wpa it says, to be honest, i'm treading new grounds here,as i don't even know what wpa stands for, when i turn wi-fi on and press the sky ssid number on my screen,it says connect to network, when i press this it reads ....signal strength good, then under this it reads...security wpa psk then under this is a box to enter a pass word. i have typed in a password , but i was wondering if it is possible i have typed the wrong one in on a different occasion,Do you know if i can change this in anyway, as i am beginning to think if i have messed this password up it will not let me connect to wi#fi. sorry for complicating things, by throwing another spanner into the works, regards Mark.
