Help widget problems...and shazaam

I was trying to put on the calendar widget to one of my home screens and it kept giving me a force close. I thought I had screwed something up when I rooted the phone but I knew I hadnt deleted anything important (or at least i think...lol) anyway just an fyi i went back and uninstalled Shazaam app and it started working no problems. So apparently theres a problem with the two. So if you cant get your widges to work, and you have recently installed shazaam, try that first. I am on metro ascend.
 
That problem is present with Cricket also and the same solution works

You might want to try Sound Hound from the Market. I've read many posts of users having probs with Shazam replacing it with that app and being very happy with it.

Best of all, right now with the free version of Soundhound, you get unlimited tags, whether in Shazam free, you get very limited tags!!

That's good to know. I'll try it just as soon as I finish rooting my phone. I'm getting ready to d/ld z4root from the xda-developers site now. Hope it works! :)
 
I don't have Shazaam installed on my phone, but I do have a sound file saved as Shazaam for my text message alert. You know, "Shazaam" from Dave Chappelle. I know this may be a stupid question, but could that word just be the reason why I can't add widgets? I've never had the app installed on my phone, and that seems to be the main fix for this. So I'm not sure what's wrong with my phone. Also, I love my message alert and I don't want to delete it, lol. I wonder if I just change the name, if that will fix anything. I don't know. I'm just frustrated and I don't want to do a hard reset.
 
We have another thread in the forums where the same issue and same fix were mentioned, so obviously this is a pretty common issue.

I know this is an old post, but I just have to say, having Dave Chappelle saying "shazaam" as your text notification is AWESOME!! lol
