Help Widgetlocker & widget issues after reboot.

Newbie
Im having an issue with Widgetlocker not appearing as an installed app after i reboot the phone, same thing with my widgets on my homescreen. I have to replace the widgets every time i reboot.

But with widgetlocker, i have to delete all the files and reinstall it each time. Are there any suggestions?

some info, im using launcher pro, on the mikfroyo rom.

have you moved widget locker and these other apps to the sd car?

i have no issues with mine but I am not using mikefroyo

very odd indeed. have you tried reflashing mikfroyo??? or another rom to see if the issue is present ?

better yet back up your apps and just flash again ...follow this guide matlock made. (found in the root for dummies thread)

PUT ROM ON SDCARD
Before you begin, connect your device using the Mirco USB cable and place the Custom ROM you downloaded onto the Root of your SDCard. This means put the Zip file in the main folder itself. Not in any Sub-Folders of any sort.

STEP 1: TURN OFF DEVICE
Power down the device by holding the Power Button for 2 seconds. Allow it to shutdown completely. Wait about 10 seconds before next step.

STEP 2: BOOTLOADER
Hold down VOL DOWN + POWER until device boots into a White Screen.
Move to RECOVERY by using the VOL DOWN toggle and select by using POWER button.

STEP 3: BACKUP
Make sure to do a NAND backup of your bevice prior to Flashing a ROM. Refer to Section 3.

STEP 4: WIPE
Use the VOL DOWN toggle to move to Wipe and select by pressing the POWER button.
Toggle down to Wipe date factory reset and select by pressing the POWER button.
Once that has complete, toggle down to Wipe Dalvik-cache and select by pressing the POWER button.
Once that has complete, select Return.

STEP 5: FLASH ZIP
Use the VOL DOWN toggle to move to Flash zip from sd card.
Find the ZIP file Custom ROM you want to flash by using the VOL DOWN toggle. Select it using the POWER button.
Your ROM will now be installed onto your device.

STEP 6: BACK TO RECOVERY
After the installation has completed, you will be brought back main menu, use the POWER button to select the first option “reboot system now”. And your device will reboot itself like normal.

I'll take that as a no :). How did you flash mikfroyo in the first place? Did you wipe cache/dalvik/data? Did you do it manually or through ROM manager?

I rooted with unrevoked on my macbook, then i wiped the casche, dalvik, data etc. then manually flashed the rom from the recovery on the phone. It was a clean flash. Just everytime i reboot the phone, my widgets dont load. And widgetlocker is completely missing. Everything else seems to work fine other than that. The widgets i can simply readd, the only issue is that i have to reconfigure each one.

maybe i should try another rom. Whats a decent sense rom?

Is that with the sense launcher or a different one (e.g. launcherpro)?

EDIT: And did you update your radios, etc.?

Im using launcher pro, and i think my radios are all up to date, not sure how radios affect widgets though

Me neither, but you can have weird instability issues if you have the wrong radio/pri on a ROM based on 3.70. I just thought I'd ask.

Anyway, is this happening every time you reboot? Since widget locker works as a home replacement, get rid of that, first, then just keep launcherpro. Reboot, and see if it still gets rid of your widgets. Maybe it's a problem with widgetlocker that is affecting the actual launcher.

I reflashed to a different Rom, and my widgets are fine now, however, my widgetlocker still keeps disappearing..odd.

I am changing some textures in widgetlocker, maybe i have to sign the apk...

Ah, I see. What are you using to do that?

I don't know how to sign apks

What i was doing is just copying the apk onto my computer and then replacing the files, then copying back onto the sd card, and from there, replaced the one in system/apps

also, for some reason, everytime i try to change permissions on APK in root explorer, the settings don't hold. Im rooted, so maybe i'm rooted wrong, or its the HTC evo itself.

Mr. Ed is right, that's definitely your problem. You *might* be able to get away with it, but you should still sign it. Like Mr. Ed said, I'm surprised it even installed. On that note, I've had problems using apk manager before, so if it doesn't work for you, apktool should. It does the same basic thing.

Also, you're free to *try* resigning the apks you did modify. For on the fly apk resigning, I use this:

[APP] Signapktic: Onboard apk & zip signing, now with GUI - xda-developers

It works great.

EDIT: Oh, and where are the apks you're trying to change the permissions on? There are a number of reasons why that won't hold, but let's start with that question.

Sd card

You're changing permissions on an apk that's on your sdcard, and it's not keeping those permissions, or it's not keeping those permissions after you copy it somewhere? What are you changing the permissions to, and if you are copying it, where are you trying to copy it to?
